I have seen a few really nice SF bats - you can pick one up from Colt Cricket Just off the A3  near Putney/kingston, they also had some really nice ones in Romida in Leatherhead.

I suspect you could get better bats for your money on this forum though.

they are nice but nothing special.  as buzz has said you will get a much better bat for your money here.

Buzz, do you know anything about their own brand bats? Looked pretty good. Can you see them online?

Are you talking about the Colt bats?

If you are, I am pretty sure Talisman supplies their willow. The Colt bats I have seen are pretty good - I went into the shop a couple of weeks ago and if you call the guy up (020 8541 1211) he will send you a nice bat, although I am not sure he will send you photo's - he is a good guy to deal with and knows his bats. Like the SF bats they are pretty big Indian made bats.

From memory they are about £170 which includes a knocking in service - this is done by machine/press rather than by hand.
In terms of value for money - personally I would buy a SAF/Talisman or Redback first - but if you want an Indian bat you can do a lot worse. Otherwise, Asad at UZI sports probably has a bigger choice of Asian bats or you could also choose Quantum (http://www.quantumcricket.com/) who offer a really good service too...

Dazzler - I used to have an SF Impressive, which was quite nice but nothing special.
I rated CA, BAS and SS bats I have above the SF personally? But maybe you will decide you want to try one anyway - if so then I hope you get a top notch one.

For info the CA 8k is a very good bat, although I'm sure that the 10k and 12k are even better.
But the best Asian bats I have had are a couple of G1 SS bats got from Talisman which are stonkingly good! But have a BAS from Asad thats also very good. And a Matrrixx rare blue whats pretty damn awesome!
All these bats are by far better than the G1 SF I had!

Is that the shop next door to Fordham? Went in there on the day it openedwasnt very impressed, what a stupid place to open his shop!

yes it is the place next door to Fordham - why is it a stupid place to open a shop? he sells different gear to fordham and can share their customer base, there are about 100 clubs within a 20 min drive of that location and loads of middle class parents whose little boy has to have the right gear...

What middle class english boy is going to choose a "Colt Cricket Bat" or an SF over a Gray Nicolls or an Adidas

All of the Bank of England (150+colts), Wimbledon (200+colts) and other big clubs Tariq has sponsored and sorted out kit for.

Plus Forhams is the most expensive cricket shop in the south-east, they needed some competition.

Oh and I forgot to mention the huge Asian population living in the Stretham, Tooting, Vauxhall and Balham areas...

To be fair Dave - are you likely to buy a £350 GN bat from Fordham, when you would buy a Laver for that sort of cash direct from NZ?
The main point is that most of the people who live in that area (myself included) are limited in the shops where you can actually phsycally try new kit, short of taking a day off work and going when the shops are less busy - and if any of you have every tried to go to Forham's on a Sat morning at the start of the season - it is like the first day in the sale at Primark - it is a grim place to go with massive queues.

I am pleased they have some competition. Personally I am unlikely to buy kit from either shop these days - but there is enough demand in the area for both shops and both do pretty well.

Are the bats better than what you can get elsewhere, not really but that isn't the point.

My favourite shop is Romida in Leatherhead, good selection of bats. Although go to VKS, Fordham and Malik sometimes too.
