Title: Cooks 2011 Gray Nicholls
Post by: Liam-SCCC on August 06, 2010, 07:04:51 PM
Look here, it certainly isn't a 2010 GN.

Look through the pictures of him.

Glad the pink is still in fashion though as some of our 2011 stickers are Pink.

Bat itself looks awesome though.

The red strip has now got a black outline to it which doesn't help. Strauss' blade looks nice and clean

I don't think Pink is a trend anymore, things have moved on and would guess that GN being behind the times with the their logo's, all swirls and shapes with no meaning or relevance to the bat name are just going through the motions once more. Shame as their logo is one of the most recognisable due to it's longevity in the market.

What is the trend then, in your opinion? I tend to follow what the other sports, particularly football are doing.

I had expected it to be fluorescents this year.

Mike do you personally get asked that much about GN kit ? im not sure they are as big as they once were albeit they are still a big big player but dont see as much as i once did and me personally i wouldn't buy GN.

I think that strong bold designs with 2 colour combinations work very well, I used to play cricket with a professional colour matcher. He put the revamped BP Green and Yellow together years ago, not that I could tell they had slightly tweaked their colours. He advised me on strong combinations such as Black and Gold and also as now used by puma Blue and Orange. A theme in a range works well as most brands use it and a simple colour switch can do wonders.

I think fluorescents were en vogue about 15 years ago and to me are "cheap" but all things go in cycles.

I don't see a massive amount of GN kit but they have a good market share, I think the forum holds a great position as it tends to spot trends early and the general feeling towards a brand here is a good future indicator for the market. We like to think we are above the marketing lures but I see more of it working here rather than less, albeit on a higher level.

Would look much better if the red was made pink and you had an all pink branded bat.

Just my thoughts

Cook also spent hours working in the nets.

Pretty sure it was the new bat that made all the difference though ;) cough cough.

I dont think Pink has gone out of fashion and I think its probably worth staying in your range. Remembering that with GN equipment, you will put out 4-5 models a year of different bats (Powerbow, Evo, Nitro, Ignite, Legend etc), so making just one of them pink I dont think is bad.

I think witht hings that are different (like pink), people are pretty opinionated with them and in most cases you eitehr hink they are awesome or they are terrible and in a market where there is so many bats to chose from I think thats a good thing. Because 5 people might walk into the store and say no thanks, but the other might go yes please and take it.

As opposed to that bad which is just 'ok' and your normal run of the mill bat that doesnt stand out.

Thats my consensus from wo
