Pretty sure its used with tennis rackets mate, local sports shop might have it if they have a decent tennis range, if not there is lots on ebay or sports websites.

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/i.html?_nkw=golf+lead+tape

wrap insulation tape or cloth tape over the top of the lead tape to protect it.
Adding weight to the handle will have an effect on the timing of the bat too so make sure you try different amounts, and it wont help any cross bat shots... I would take the toe guard off if you can.

Agree with Buzz, Shoe Goo much better than a toe guard....and lighter!

Each time i put it on the scales in a different position it weighs a different amount, ranging from 2lb 10.5 to 2lb 15. whats the best position to place the bat on the scales to get an accurate weight.

alridd, pics will be up in an hour or so after i have done some painting!

Take it down the local post office and use their scales!

Post by: SillyShilly on August 11, 2010, 11:32:04 AM
just make sure the bat does not come into contact with anything but the scales, if it touches another surface then it is likely the weight will fluctuate.

Not a pretty thought thanks. FYI this side of the pond (and the Thames) we use Pinks, not Greens ;)

Peps, this is a smashing looking bat and like a vinatage wine it should be drunk (used) and not looked at and left to gather dust!!

Oh dont you worry i'll be using it, hopefully to its full effect, however i doubt it with my batting ability!!!

Although i must thank you for all your tips buzz, taken them all on board and a few bits added by my coach (very very good coach too!) and i'm averaging 100 since! with a few not outs and a few goodish scores!

But yeah this bat is wodnerful! Hoping to get lead tape in the week if its too heavy in throw downs/bowling machine tonight. So we'll see, mega pleased though!!!

Greens, pinks, purples all the same thing.
Looks an absolute stunner buddy. Hope you score plenty with it.

Great to hear on the average, enjoy the form while it lasts.
When you are trying it this evening - the key test for you will be playing cross bat shots and touch shots. If you are ok with those then the weight will be fine.
As it is a slightly bigger bat that you are used to, don't just test it out with drives, which will (hopefully) fly off the bat anyway - also watch out for your bottom hand taking over too much too...
I moved up from a 2lbs 9 to a 2lbs 11 bat this year and it has really helped me, so hopefully it will work for you too

Yeah i'm not a huge cutter of the ball anyway and leave a lot of wide stuff if my dab down to third man isnt working for me that day, and i unless the bat is really heavy pulling isnt a problem with a slightly meaty bat as its quite a natural movement, and i'm not sure why but feels pretty standard with and bat!

Yeah hoping this weeks match is on to upkeep my form, find out tonight if i have lost it already ;)

Out of interest why did you mvoe up 2oz's buzz?

It wasn't a deliberate move, but it was because Andy "SAF Bats" had some big bats on sale for £100 in
Jan and I thought it would be rude not to hoover one up (that was before he was a famous award winning batmaker!!!) At the time I was thinking about going for a SAF or Hawk and the price sealed it... see http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=4136.0 - I got the Genus and Andy took a bit of weight off it, but it is still huge.

The bat Andy sent was his second choice as the AOC bat (so he says ;)) and it is a splendid bat. I have put about and inch of a double thinkness grip around the top of the handle as a counter balance and it picks up almost as well as my old 2lbs 9 bat (a pak bat, similar to the AS ones)

The grains aren't as good as yours above but the middle must be - by way of reference, my league average last year was 402 runs at 40 (which I considered to be a decent return) and this year is (so far) 590 runs at 86 (because of family comitments I've only played 7 games so missed out on a few 0's which would bring my average back to a normal level (!!) and concentrated much harder when I have batted).

ahhh good work though mate!! Will be trying the counter balance trick, apart from lead tape or grip is there anything else i can use??

Definately want own an SAF out one day! But will be after this one and my other new bat die! Unless this one is too heavy!

Desperately needing money, and have another bat which is lighter at 2lb 6, doesnt perform half as well as this but it just feels better for me when i play cross bat shots.

I should really just bite the bullet, borrow the money, muscle up and use this one, but then i'm not that disciplined or bothered about doing all of that!!!

And i'm not just gonna give it away :), its gonna have to be at the right price :D

right well i have weighed it this morning on my new scales, and i believe it to be 2lb9.7 something so nearly 2lb 10.... (the scales are not digital but are more reliable than my others!)

Peps - I would still take this to the post office and weigh it exactly.....as so far all we know that it's somewhere between 2'8 and 2'15, and you believe i to be nearly 2'10? If you ca confirm the weight, then that would help sell it?
