My new business batrepairs.com will be launched very soon and to kick it off i'm offering a full refurbishment, plus any repairs which need doing completely free of charge.
All you need to do is to drop me a line with a piccy of your bat, your name and the name of your cricket club.
Over to you now.
Cheers Batrepairs

apologies i haven't been back to you all sooner on this.
winner has been chosen, go to my site and click on the facebook button you'll see the pictures of the bat before repair on there, finished repair shots will go on too.
my price will include anything you want doing to your bats, so if you need a new handle, a toe repaired and a full refurb you'll pay £35 plus obviously postage or courier fees on top.
i'll soon be adding a menu price list for smaller repairs, so keep your eyes out on the website.
i don't have personal experience in making or repairing bats, but in my work i've had the great pleasure to make personal contacts with many of the bat makers in this country, which is how i've been able to start this business and begin to deliver a quality service to cricketers of all levels.
finally, i've seen that there are many forum members that offer cheap repairs, and that's fine if you want a cheap repair.
i do quality repairs only, which is why i charge what i know is a fair price for the attention of skilled craftsmen to repair your bats.
i also offer a bat buying service and will soon be introducing a new service to cricket players.
feel free to go to my website and call me or e-mail me anytime.

Fair play if you are offering a service but just because a service is cheaper does not mean it is not quality sorry if I got the wrong end of the stick bit that's what the above seems to state
-
thanks for the reply roco.
i'm sure some cheaper repairers do quality jobs, i'm not doubting that.
but why not charge the right price to reflect the skill and knowledge required, and not just trying to undercut someone by a few quid.
business so far is good, so can't complain...

I have taken this from your website
"Batrepairs.com use only the finest and most talented bat makers and repairers, with combined experience of over 30 years."
So are you charging more because you have to pay someone to do the work and you take a cut on top of that? I.e £25 for the actual repairer £10 for the admin?
I have been fortunate to have my bats repaired/refurbished thanks to members on here for less than the price you are quoting and I'm not sure that had I paid more I would have gotten a better service as your suggesting.
Just my 2 pennies worth

I have my bats repaired by the very best, maybe I should charge more to make more money out of forum members. If I put down the competition with no knowledge of what they do or offer I could boost my sales and thus profit. If I were to show my utter ignorance of the market by asking a forum to which I'm allegedly selling a highly knowledgeable and professional service who makes stickers for bats when I deal with bat makers direct I might look out of my depth. I could just ensure my every post was advertising to prove my intention to only be a member to make money.

Very much agreed!!
-
don't see where i've put down the competition in any of my posts, seems the competition is getting a bit flustered to me.
i think repairers should charge more money, it's a specialist service, don't these things come at a cost?
bat stickers aren't something i've dealt with in the past, and haven't ever spoken with makers about the manufacture of them, only about design and changes to designs, so happy to ask the question and got some leads from the forum members so thanks.
i'll do it how i've decided to do it, and you can all continue how you do it, don't criticise a new member just because he dares to have an opinion.
i joined the forum as a way of discussing all things cricket, not to have other members getting their knickers in a twist and dismiss what i'm doing.

It seems to me that the service of having a bat repaired has existed for some time. It also seems that the people doing this service has priced it according to their requirements for the job. I'm sure that if they felt it needed to be costed higher they could do this themselves.
Therefore your involvement in this would not be to offer a new service, merely to take an existing one and add your profit on top. Great sales technique, but it doesn't actually benefit the customer in any shape or form.
You have suggested that a cheaper cost for a repair will result in a cheap repair, i.e a poor repair compared to yours.
"finally, i've seen that there are many forum members that offer cheap repairs, and that's fine if you want a cheap repair."
Of course if this is not an attempt to besmirch the competition then it must be a clear statement that the customer can get the same service as you provide for less money elsewhere.
Or maybe I'm not quite understanding your slick patter?
-
Like I said in the earlier post maybe it's the wording just comes across as your saying your repairs will be a higher quality but that may not be what you are meaning to come across
Other people will offer repairs/refurbs cheaper as it is not there main source of income unlike yourself not knocking you at all as have not sampled your services but hit4six did a few of mine last season and was a first class job all the way plus there are the bat makers/sellers on the forum who offer this service aswell as doing a good job on the smaller things like this can get you a good reputation and help generate sales but may be wrong
-
okay i'm going to stop replying to negative stuff as it's not constructive.
i reiterate comments from other members that bats needing multiple repairs such as a new handle, split toe, full refurb and new face and edge tape for £35 plus carriage is good value.
sounds like the customer can benefit in many ways and forms from that price...
lets be positive or not bother...

Don't run off Dom at the first sign of questioning, I'm happy for you to prove me wrong, I just don't really see the benefit of your proposal but do sell it to me.
If you have a branded bat you can send it back to the brand for all this for a lesser or similar price, you get to deal with the people that made your bat and therefore the most knowledgeable with regard to it, you get to talk first hand to the person repairing your bat and they can ask or answer questions directly and you get a quicker service as it does not need to make multiple postage journeys.
If you have a bat which does not have a dedicated brand owner or agent in the UK then any of the above brand owners would still be able to offer their services.
-
On the positive side, it's great that you offer a service that's slightly different and competes on that level (toe, handle, refurb for that price)
But please remember that this is a forum and everything is open to discussion. You are new and therefore people are posting points that they are currious about, and in fact some posts I sometimes see are very constructive if you read between the lines. There are alot of very reliable people who offer some great services on this forum, so the fact that people are discussing your service in itself is a positive thing, and means that people are taking you seriously! I would be more worried for you if nobody was replying to anything in your topics! :(
I guess it's all about getting yourself established in your own right.
Talisman, Hit4six and a few others offer very high standards with the services they provide - I have used three of them for refurbs and even rehandling, and their level of service was faultless!! So it's never going to be as easy as on less informed forums. So don't see things as negative....there are simply discussions taking place!
-
okay, but i'm not here to prove anyone wrong talisman...
-
i feel that we should give him a chance we will see the results when i send my gn carbo of to him and see the results
-
happy to receive it....

kalph seriosuly mate, do you want a sale! Gte onto your sale topic and reply or pm me!

I entered the competition and didn’t think much more of it as I never tend to win anything until one morning I received a message telling me that I was the winner of the free bat refurbishment by Bat Repairs. Dom was very pleasant, knowledgeable and easy to chat to as I enquired as to what I needed to do and was told to list everything that needed doing and send the bat off.
My Hawk X10 bat is around 5 years old, weighs 2lb 7oz and like most Hawks has proven very durable. Although it has lasted really well I thought it was nearing its final days as it had a long crack along one outside edge, one near the handle but the most worrying thing was the toe had a series of horizontal cracks. At the end of every season I give it a cursory light sand before its winter hibernation but don’t have the skills to do much more than tape up any cracks that occurred. Here are pictures of the bat before I sent it off:

About 10 days after I sent the bat off it was returned to me and I was and am exceedingly impressed with the service given by Bat Repairs.
The bat has been stripped back and all the cracks have been sorted out with the outside edge being pinned and glued but the toe area amazed me the most. Before the refurb the toe was in quite a state but now it looks like the toe of a bat again! It has had a new anti-scuff, new stickers and a new grip applied and all in all I couldn’t be happier with the work done on the bat.
Here are the pictures of the refurb:

Having received a free bat refurbishment I am obviously going to be positive about my experience but trying to be objective, I can honestly say that the standard of the refurbishment is such that I would not hesitate in recommending Bat Repairs to anyone considering getting their bat refurbished and I think considering that for all the work that has been done to my bat that the price is good value indeed.
If you go on the Bat Repairs facebook page you will also be able to see the before and after photos.
Thank you very much to Bat Repairs for such a great prize!
-
Impressive, great job!
-
Looks like a great deal of care has gone into it
-
Sending the GN Xiphos off for this service, it will be paid for and I will provide both a description of what is requested and a before and after review.
I think that will provide a fairly objective stand point.
-
thanks for the kind words on the hawk job Jon, enjoy your bat...
-
Nice refurb done there and well done on getting a new set of genuine stickers too!! And is mr bat repairs the Dom as in Sillyshilly?
-
Quality job Bat Repairs, what experience do you have in repair work as you're quality looks very good....
-
very impressive, have to admit i was a little sceptical but the bats turned out well so i guess its just up to every one to decide how much they want to pay for things :)
-
my experience is from knowing the bat makers, and having a good working relationship with them.
i don't do the repairs myself, but place them with the most appropriate repairer depending one what needs doing.
the quality is good as this is what i demand and the repairers deliver, as with others that are repairing or refurbishing branded bats i can't always get replacement stickers but i try to when possible.
as the business develops, which it is nicely at the moment i'd like to be able to offer more which hopefully will be sooner rather than later.
finally, the comments and experiences of others will determine how successful this is going to be, so far so good.
