Title: Highest run getter in test matches

Who do you think will end up with more runs in test match cricket....

Sachin Tendulkar, or

Ricky Ponting


Who would you rate as a better cricketer (in terms of technique, on and off field behavious and cricketing acumen)

Ponting is about 1800 off Brian Lara's test runs and is playing his 121st game he is 34 though

Sachin is 17 runs off target

hopefully he should get some big knocks in the remailing tests to extend Ponting's chase

Lara was a gifted guy, he could bat all day with a middling bat. But his success got into his head (i think so) and ruined him.....he could have got may more runs....

Sachin is a true ambassabor of the game..... its just him the game . . . . hugely dedicated guy with no air of success

I'll answer the first two.

Ponting. Because Tendulkar isn't far of retiring and a year and a half of good socring will get ponting past tendulkar if he does retire.

Yes, Ponting could get past Sachin. But if Sachin has a good year or two ahead then Ponting can be easily written off.

well can't agree with you on LAra being a better cricketer in terms of techniques and on and off field behaviour.....

Lara was always shuffling across and some of his off field exploits are well known....

Lara always seemed like towards the end of his career he was batting for himself... I mean cmon  batting for 400 runs which made WI draw a game they could have won!

Well your 3-0 down in a series iirc and youv'e scored a 100, 200, 300, 500 the only 1 missing was a 400 i think i would have done the same myself.
