I feel greatly priveleged to be able to umpire the Wanderers in many matches this season. Last Wednesday they played an Auckland Development Squad and today it was the annual Wanderers v Lord Taverners at Alan Border Oval.
The teams had 5 ex Sheffield Shield players and an ex test player (Gary Cosier) as well as a mix of overseas younger players.
These games are played in wonderful spirit and today was no exception. Col Cooke played for Lord Taverners and was of course an ex Queensland opening bowling. I remember Col very well for making a complete fool of me in one Masters indoor cricket match 20 or so years ago.
Oh and did I say Brian Lara strolled by for a quick look during the afternoon.

Yes sambo. the Wanderers are an interesing mix of younger, often overseas players visiting and older ex A Grade, State and sometimes international players. The team changes from week to week but their excellent cricket manners and all round great company never changes.
