Im rather interested in purchasing one of these... has anyone used them and can you tell me what theyre like and how to purchase one! ::)
-
Yes I did, went well enough think it got a ton 2nd game. But pickup was poor, swapped it for a Redback which looked prettier and picked up a lot lighter.
Also the handle shapes may not suit all, I think the handle shape is the most common complaint as they're very thin. However I will say that most who have had them have been pleased and I ordered at an especially frantic time, just before the Aus and Nz season!

Just ordered one, And i cannot in anyway possible yet |(tough wood) fault James in any way.
I asked for pictures and 2 or 3 days later he sent me 8 picturs of willow which numbered for me to choose. Chose letter A!! Looks like a nice piece of wood with 8 straight grains which you cannot fault for a Harrow bat.
When i wrote to him about specs he responded next day and has taken into last minute considerations. Even helped me out when the forum was not working.
Sent specs of 2,6 but no heavier, on their website harrow can go no more than 2 pound 4 but never questioned it. Asked for low middle thinish edges and a real oval handle.
James is brilliant and i know my bat will smash the bowlers around.

I have one and love it! in terms of profile James nailed my specs, though a little disappointed that cosmetically I didn't get what I'd asked for - wanted some heartwood on the outside edge - performance wise awesome - had the bat within 3 weeks of ordering as well.

Any chance of seeing the willow you got to choose from?
-
yeah would be rather interesting

I have to admit that was one thing that impressed me about L&W, the choosing of your own willow via pics. Not sure any other Full Time custom maker has utilised technology in this way yet, if they have I've not used them.

I didn't get the option, but then I didn't order mine direct - got it through MHCC as Rich was offering a 2 for 1 deal

Might be something i can maybe offer which would make me unique in the UK
-
Yeah top idea mate ;D
-
Chris taking initiative there! That would be great, instead of just taking someone's word for how good the willow is as you have to with other companies.
-
Will put some pics up soon. I requested the pics and James sent me Close ups of lots of different pieces of wood.
-
I have to Lavers, they are my first custom made bats but all i can sing is praise about them. I am hoping to get a new bat soon just to try some new brands but yeah, if i were you i would go for a laver!
-
Saw one in the flesh for the first time yesterday and it looked great, reasonable ping for quite an old bat (had the classic stickers on) and picked up really light.
-
I own 2 Lavers so i'd thought i'd post up some pic's - they are fairly old pic's but there you go...

Both Firefly's - one obviously stickered as GN
Edit: Sorry are they to big?
Both are absolute pinging machines and took a while to play in
Pickup is excellent and both come in around the 2lb 9oz mark [neither custom made for me, bought from club mates]
-
They both look lovely but think the one in the first pic looks nicer.
-
Love the profile of the first laver. Both look awesome mate
-
My fifth Laver should be here any day soon. Made from a low density, narrow, equidistant grained cleft. Yummy
-
More like a grade 3/4 plank that you have adapted and put some laver stickers on ?
-
To be fair to Chopper, I've seen some of his own bats, and they were impressive.
