Have you had a chance to weigh them yet mate
-
I'm sure ive said before, looks quality gear. Green gloves have an Itias look about them to me.
-
yes mate iv emailed you the weights of them.....989g per pad, with the knee locator, canes and instep padding etc they arent going to be the lightest pads on the market....just to give a comparism our modern pads are 704g each :)
-
All seems very high quality to me as we had the samples first of all to wear test/evaluate and amend before narrowing down our final design. Im sure Tom will be very flattered to have you compare his kit to ours ;)
-
Still selling modern pads then? They are quality
-
Oh yes mate still doing them but people asked about a traditional range of pad as well which I focused on sorting out as the modern pads are tried and tested as such and still provide solid lightweight protection :)
-
Yeah they are really good pads, current party trick is for people at my club to smash me in the legs with their bat to test the protection... cant feel a thing
-
haha yeh always the doubters out there....Benning was testing them at 90mph with the bowling machine without flinching so would hope they stood upto someone wafting the willow at them!
I need to get people trying out the ACIS gloves with the release valve in them with the bat mallet and feeling the difference between having it inflated and deflated next to show them the effectiveness of the technology! ;)
-
Love my ACIS gloves, only need a release valve for one people keep pressing the button when you nip off to get something!
-
yeh a common problem as everyone likes to tamper with the bulb/valve on the helmets let alone the gloves!!
-
Loving the softs. Should sell like hot cakes. If i had the money id have some. Roll on Christmas. :D
-
Get them on your Xmas list then and see what santa brings you!
-
There on. Would be nice to have a unique set of softs. As far as I'm aware no one in our league has Ayrtek equipment. Never seen any anyway. Only came across you when ProWannabe told us about the forum.
-
Just ordered myself a set of elite

What are the ACIS gloves?
-
my first venture into the cricket market....it was my dissertation at uni
-
no longer in production?
-
we licensed the design to canterbury which they pitched at the top end of the market at £70 for a pair of gloves....as a new brand in the sport it didnt seem the best thing to do!!
we have the capacity to make them and they are proven to keep you hand safer from impact that other gloves but we havent pushed production as yet with all the other kit at the moment.
-
Tom, how exaactky des the realease valve work on both the gloves and helmets? I presume the pads are relatively traditional compared to the others :)
-
when the release valve is pressed it lets out the air that has been pumped into the air tight bladders.....which then return to their flacid state ;)
-
So what is the benefits of the valve then on the gloves specifically, surely the valve would pop when the ball hit is if it is full and then pop ???
-
no mate we took the valve off the gloves as it was too bulky according to mr benning....the system comprises on a series of interconnected cells which wont pop like a balloon as such as when u press on one area the air is relocated to another but also acts as a cushioning system to absorb the impact.
the gloves proved to be 200% safer than the PUMA and GM we put through testing back then whilst the helmet proved 300% safer than the helmets we tested with the BSI.
-
in all honesty i am impressed :)
-
dont be he's just a show off lol :)
-
yes indeed, but in all honesty I have found him a pleasure to negotiate with :)
-
yeh i need to tell anyone and everyone thats willing to listen as most people dont care less :(
-
well I would get the kit out on the county circuit, and London Schools circuit, and West Midlands league circuit, but it comes in at too much of a price for me regrettably :(
-
Don't ask Tom any questions about the technology when having a pint!
Three hours later you'll still be waiting to get a word in! ;)
-
a pint, at 14 im not meant to, but hey :), and i think its good for the game if we hav enthusiatic english batmakers and technological advancers :)
-
This is a great forum to be on!
You have such a wide range of batmakers, helmet providers, willow producers and experts in the cricket industry!
Oh yeh, and don't forget one or two fanatical bat collectors! ;)
So a good variety of knowledge and interests on here! 8)
-
Speaking of pints Mr Hosk it must be your round next time....you lot were too busy ogling Talismans wood last time to speak about my helmet!!! :( lol
Technological advancements help to keep the game moving forward and the other brands on their toes! rather than comfortable churning out the same product year upon year without any competition ;)
-
Mr Hosk, its been a pleasure reading your thread, and yes, my mundane after school life has been brightened by the reading of cricket related, sometimes loosely related, subjects. Whilst I may appear to be only after sponsorship, I do bloody enjoy the game, and having been to 2 of the Pakistan test matches, and seeing the game int he state that it is now, I think that it's forums like these which keeps the grass roots level spirit and the enjoyable side back to cricket, even when darker things may be occuring in the international game,
Emotional outburst over
-
For publicity for your brand, I refer you to my earlier post ;)
-
i cant say too much apart from my match bat i have all the ayrtek kit tom makes lol
-
Tom - my round next time fella! :D
And talking of my inventory topic, I had better continue with it as I still have another 60 bats to get through! :(
It's a real labour of love but I have to see it through!
-
if not for yourself then for me :)
-
by the time you have done those you will have purchased more so its never ending which is fun for us all
-
and that match bat has only just knocked one of ours off its perch!!!! Damn u mike lol
-
yes the ayrtek is the spare but goes well and knocked a nice 43 in the county t20 final with 4 huge 6's
-
I think I remember where your Ayrtek bats come from Tom.
And I know that it would be tough to find much better quality bat and maker!!
And I will carry on with topic - and glad that people enjoy it! :D
-
Tom, who makes your bats, as if we can negotiate a good price, I am sure we can come to a deal, with reviews of your kit so high, I would be honoured to use it, especially if it was in conjuction with Brand Ayrtek
-
well I would get the kit out on the county circuit, and London Schools circuit, and West Midlands league circuit, but it comes in at too much of a price for me regrettably :(
Sorry mate just found ur post.....well I can cut the price down but its the bats that are obviously costing the most out of the quote, plus you never mentioned the fact you were a promising county player which was why we looked expensive to other quotes who had offered you a discount when ours hadnt. If you want to drop me a line with your club/county details etc then I can have another look at our quote.....not saying were going to come in at a stupidly silly price but ill see what i can offer :)
-
Hi Tom,
What information would you like?
I am the joint top wicket taker in the country in the county competition, and am recognised by other players on the circuit now, so will help to generate publicity.
I also do debating at a sixth form national Oxford University Competition Level and am in the top 100 National U16 Speakers, so I am sure that I could promote Ayrtek through that channel as well.
Thanks,
Chris
