Title: Gray Nicolls Batting Shorts Padded

I got Gray Nicolls batting shorts today with the padding. I am quite new to cricket and i was wondering what level of protection do the thigh pads offer that come in the shorts? Also do you think that they would do instead of getting a proper thigh pad

I would think as new to cricket they would be fine, as you get better and face better bowlers you may want to get better protection.

Training in September!! Most of our side would have a heart attack at the mere thought of it!
