Title: Off Spin Training Ideas
Post by: no1red on September 10, 2010, 05:22:37 PM
Hi all,

Recently decided to take my hand grenades seriously and was wondering whether anyone has any ideas of drills that I could use either on my own or with keeper etc.

I've got a list of stuff for you mate!

http://www.metarasa.com/cricket/spin/ That's a link for useful spin articles, some helpful stuff there like field placings, just a few things.

http://www.pitchvision.com/category/spin-bowling It's not all off-spin bowling, but if you sift through there, then you will find helpful articles on how to practice. I'll see if I can single out a couple that would be really beneficial to you...

http://www.pitchvision.com/master-the-pivot-to-give-the-ball-extra-spin-revolutions Pivoting on your front foot to help increase revs and turning capability.
http://www.pitchvision.com/spin-bowling-flight-and-guile Some decent drills to practice with. If you have a proper cricket net set up then this is perfect for you!
http://www.pitchvision.com/spinners-arm-ball Arm Ball - Enough said!
http://www.pitchvision.com/readers-tips-21-spin-bowling-tips - Some useful info in general on being a spinner.

http://sasa.co.za/ - Spininfo, a Saffer site, I just stumbled upon it about a minute ago! Don't know what it's like!

Tumo - thanks for posting those!  I too have been tasked with improving my hand grenades after a couple of years of only bowling once or twice a year, skipper has some crazy idea that they take wickets....

I don't need the doosra - my variation is one that turns  :D

He wants to get us into the indoor nets over the winter, I'll give it a try as I would like to bowl a bit more often.

The links from Tumo are really helpful.
