Title: chase bats
Post by: lazza32 on September 17, 2010, 01:59:05 AM
I have been scanning the internet for all different types of bats and was about to settle on a salix(175GBP incl. Delivery to Aust.). Then I noticed Chase bats have
come up on both Wisden and AOC top bats. Can I get some feedback on what these bats are like?

Club I used to play for in Hampshire had loads of players with them. The 175 and Sumo used to fly. 175 picked up very nicely. Sumo was very heavy though. Very good bats in my opinion.

On Chase - they make some nice bats - Dave (Procricket) is a particular fan. As with a lot of bats you may be best off actually seeing if you can make it to Dummer Down Farm to choose one.
Arh I have just seen you are in Aus - that might make it a bit difficult then...!
If you do want to buy one of these bats - Try calling the guys up and get them to pick one out for you. There may be better bats around though

(Johnny - great new avatar!)

I know Chase very well and they get their bats made by the best but I'd not say that you get value for money or great choice from Dan. You would get much more value and choice with some forum brands here, Black Cat, SAF, Hell4Leather for top quality English willow bats.

Good job i AM  back to listen Mike on your theory if you like

Tut Tut good job i back.

You can have your bat shaped by Dan at Dummer into your own shape style a current international captain gets his from Dan as do about 70 per cent of the Middlesex side.

Not going to harp on but much more choice i was not aware any other brand on here makes 5 different models in there range  but i not going to say there all not quality because if you read around they all seem to be

Good to be back HEY

The Chase caped crusader is back.....

Newbery have the following models,

TT

Thruxton
Krakatoa
Mjolnir
Uzi
B52
Chic

That would be 7 shapes,

M&H have

Amplus
Distinction
Original
Harlequin
Solution
S6

That would be 6, shall I go on.....?

Merely a little cold water applied to some claims made by Dan and repeated by Procricket, and I'm still expecting "Captain Chase" to mine for a visit....

I actually have a secret DF to bring out if he gets violent, I'll swing it in front of him and wait for him to fall into a trance.... I'm sure we would both benefit from a tour round the garage.

That might actually work with dave or some really nice softs as he is the hosk of softs

mike thought you were talking about the brands on this forum as per your post VALUE and CHOICE FROM brands here ie the sponsored brands as mentioned sorry no mention of Newbery or M and H who would not sponsor this forum.

Mike hate to get into one and please refrain from Captain Chase i buy from other brands on here as you know.

is he paid to use the brand tho or does he by choice? iv got nothing against chase and im not singling them out but if a brand is truely represented by a pro using them....then this would be without endorsement as they would choose to use the brand in question
Title: Re: chase bats
Post by: procricket on November 17, 2010, 09:05:27 PM
hereth is not paid to use the brand as are none of Chase sponsored players

Funny he makes them for a certain national captain as well and like i said half a county side who pay full rrp for them.

But i agree and would not have a go about the batmakers on here the bats i have seen produced by SAF H4L and Black cat are as good as any i have seen without a doubt

Bull, absolute and as pure as it comes.

Plus Chase is not a sponsor of this forum so why big them up against forum brands Captain?
Title: Re: chase bats
Post by: Talisman on November 18, 2010, 12:06:21 AM
If you want to see the Chase workshop where all the bats are sanded and the knocking in machine it is on this link., sadly no Pro's queueing up to buy a bat.....

Title: Re: chase bats
Post by: procricket on November 18, 2010, 12:14:02 AM
why big them up because i like them and have had many good bats and widening the market there a bigger world than just the named brands on here.

Mike i will not argue with you about anything Dan goes all i know he sells some very nice bats and sell quite a lot and INTERNATIONAL CRICKETERS choose to use his bats as the picture shows scoring a test fifty.

I support him because he a bloody good bloke just ask Pete Hosk who has meet and received a very good bat from Dan
Which he hand crafted yes and i do not want a big fall out somebody asked about Chase so i thought i would throw weight in...

I do believe this is a subject of Chase Bats and as a forum i thought it was about discussion.

As you rightly know mike i do not just buy Chase bats i buy quite a few

I don't think Mike was being facetious, just making a point that although Chase are good, not all the points in your argument stood up to scrutiny.

I don't think he was knocking them (and neither am I - one is an imminent arrival), just that, as you say, it's a forum and everyone is entitled to anm opinion.

Title: Re: chase bats
Post by: Talisman on November 18, 2010, 12:22:24 AM
I've bought more Chase bats than the Captain and have spent time trying to help Dan in the past. But we are all entitled to an opinion, mine is that the Captain is being spun a few and he is too nice a chap to dispel the dubious claims and wants to help his friend.

Help i doubt Dan needs my help being a mid sized Chain which has just opened it Australian branch of the Brand up he is a mid sized company but he he does not sell out of cars or any way it direct through retailers with the offer of a getting it made in front of you...

I can understand your problem with Dan and it is your argument i just like cricket equipment and use what i like...

Oh Captain will be over very soon got a Burnley game at Portsmouth coming up
Title: Re: chase bats
Post by: Talisman on November 18, 2010, 12:31:01 AM
Still waiting for the lightest batting pads in the world....

Why do you think International captains use Dan to make the bat, can he do something others can't, it tends to be the pressing and handle issues that force a change, when you have yours made do you get a a choice of handle and pressing force?
Title: Re: chase bats
Post by: procricket on November 18, 2010, 12:34:33 AM
Yes because i have asked for carbo core handles i swear by them (Laver ones) and pressing well he does press them just does not have his own hence the reason he presses them at there place.  Ask them who presses them there Mike it is Dan

what points tim
Particularly the point that no-one on here makes 5 models. While this may be true, I'm not entirely sure that Chase are a forum sponsor, so I don't think it's a valid argument. Otherwise, as he points out, plenty make 5 or more models. Simply my opinion though!
Title: Re: chase bats
Post by: Talisman on November 18, 2010, 12:47:17 AM
No, not when I was there with him, mostly they are posted to him, a forum member visited the workshop on a Saturday morning a month ago and the big bat boxes were outside with the postage labels on and the senders details. A press is about £1200 should he want one, SAF has one, Hell4Leather has 2, but they are only very small companies, not medium size with an Australian branch.....

They do make a mean bat, a mate of mine is sponsored by them and got a custom made from them. Saw Strauss' bat too. But he said their grading system is slightly suspect with there being no real difference between the 167 and 175.
Title: Re: chase bats
Post by: Talisman on November 18, 2010, 06:27:33 PM
Having an old bat from a player who plays cricket at the same club as a partner in the firm, Udal, does not mean Strauss have ever heard of them. I saw a Strauss bat in India but know it wasn't made there despite the claims otherwise.

Udal is not a partner in Chase Mike anymore
