Title: Duncan Fearnley Cricket Bats
Post by: yvk3103 on October 20, 2008, 09:43:10 PM
A friend of mine just bought a couple of Duncan Fearnley bats (a Fearnley Gold and a Magnum).

Has anyone in the forum used a Duncan Fearnley? How are these bats?

Not seen many Pros using the DF, do they actually sponsor any Pros?

Also not seen their bats in stores, do they sell directly only?

Were possibly the biggest brand going all be it a fair few years ago, there kit then was pretty decent but they fell on tuff times and slipped well behind the others. The new kit looks much better than some of there other stuff from recent time but I'm not sure on the quality and performance.

yeah I see that on their website today. He's the only international pro they have on the lsit. Daren Gough has been used for endorsement though.

I used to have a Gold Select Ti... my first ever SH EW bat... I love it, but the edges were about 5mm and if you didn't middle it the vibrations shattered your wrists lol

I live under 10 minutes away from the factory in worcester. They are tremendous bats all made in the one workshop/shop in worcester. I have used fearnley's from a very early age and truth be told they have never let me down unlike other mainstream brands. vikram solanki, Darren gough and jeremy snape use duncan fearnley. previous endorsers were the greats of cricket; botham, richards etc...
I would advise going to the workshop to get the feel of a bat but they do offer sales online through their website and other sites (google fearnley cricket)
They offer 4 ranges of bats, the cobra being the junior choice an the Gold, batwing and magnum being the adults bats.
Check out the website for more:

thought i would post some pics of the bats, the blank is a duncan fearnly magum and the other is a magnum super, pretty sure both weigh about 2lb 11 although the magnum super picks up too light for me to use!, both are in shocking condition at the moment, going to send the super of to fusion to get refurbed because to be perfectly honest its the nicest bat i have ever used and felt,

Didn't Duncan Fearnley himself get barred from Worcestershire CCC (he was once Chief Exec.) for having a drink problem?

Though it might be totally unrelated to Duncan's drink problem, the company itself is now called simply 'Fearnley', I believe. It's lost the Duncan in the same way Newbery lost the John. Well, not exactly as Duncan isn't dead yet.

I have used Fearnley equipment since 1983 have had a few Magnum bats and visit the factory shop nearly every season. I have bat re-faced and and re-gripped as required. They are the most helpful and attentive people you could ever meet. I would recommend to anyone

Never been to their factory, but have had a couple of bats.  One picked up a but heavy for me, but boy did it fly if you middled it.

Here's hoping they get back to somewhere near where they once were.
