Title: Your top 5 bats!
Post by: Paddy Knott on September 27, 2010, 07:36:17 PM
Hi guys,

Havent seen a post like this one before so I though id start one. If you could have any 5 bats of your choice in your kit bat, regardless of price. What would you have?
Mine would be:
1. Laver and Wood Signature
2. Screaming Cat (£400 one!)
3. SS Gladiator
4. Newbery GT335 SPS
5. Talisman

What about you guys?

1) Laver and Wood Signiture
2) Screaming Cat (The £400 one!!)
3) One of Talisman's absolute guns that weigh no more than 2'10!
4) SAF, Best willow in the 2011 profile that was posted on here a few days ago
5) Redback Limited Edition

So technically 6 bats with the L&W Sig!

Sort of a trick question. I could not make up my mind without using them first. Moreover, I would rather ask 5 of the best regarded bat makers to make me a bat with the same profile.

seems mg2 became popular ;) haha are people basing these purchases purely on reputation and hearsay though ???

not many GM, GN, Adidas, Kook etc popping up i see as well. Having tried L&W i thought they went well but werent for me in the profiles that i had them in :(

Hmmm. No-one ever mentions Hunts County, yet their Insignia profile has always gone well for me. And M&H S6 is lovely!

Remember seeing this exact post on CSF.... Just with different bats!

Looks like many people are simply jumping on the old band wagon, I've only seen one or 2 MG2 bats from Marty on here so I'm guessing people are posting because a couple of members have said he class rather than what they have actually seen or tested. Not sure id put a bat in my top 5 which ive not had an experience with or tested out a friends etc etc.

Title: Re: Your top 5 bats!
Post by: RoCo Da Pixie on September 28, 2010, 08:23:41 AM
1. Redback
2. Talisman
3. Saf
4. Scat, To see what the fuss is about them.
5. there isnt a fifth brand,

I am fortunate to have the Redback and talisman already, I feel the Saf could come in the early spring, Scat, If a bargain one pops up i may purchase.

I have not said Newbery, As i feel other bats in the market are sourced from there, So would not feel the need to get one with a higher premium.

I would change my choices from earlier in the year a touch.

1. Tim Keeley super special, I have a few but can't get enough.

The next 4 would be curiosity buys,

2, GN players bat, working on this.
3, SS players bat, might enquire about this.
4, Laver copy of my Firefly, pressing superb v handle terrible!!!
5, CA players bat, might enquire about this.

I'd be sitting here umming and ahhing all day if I could! I'd go for, in no particular order:

a) SAF
b) Redback
c) Talisman
d) Newbery
e) Vantage

Obviously I'd love to try a Scat, a Laver, etc, but I'm all for supporting the smaller brands, and I've always wanted a Newbery. I've already got an outstanding Hunts County, which goes amazingly, but depending on prices I think my next purchase will be from one of the brands on here! ;)

??? Ricky Pontings Laminate??????????????????

I was led to believe he used a laminate at some stage - i may be wrong (thought i'd read it on here some where)

Any of RP's bats (illegal or otherwise) would be very desirable i imagine.
