-
Mr millichamp?
-
Mangha Ram ( not sure on spelling, sorry)
-
Julian Millichamp, Andrew Kember and Robert Pack?
Can't recall the guys name who makes M&H bats. Can someone enlighten me?
-
DF himself?
-
DF aka Duncan Fernley? If so he's still alive?

Rob Chambers and Nick Taylor
They make very good bats in my opinion!
-
What's his name? Andy something from SAF?
Nick Taylor and James Laver are also pretty good...
-
Rob Pack does not make bats, he finishes them.
There are plenty out there.

Ah okay.
It will be great if you can name them.
-
Tim Keeley,
Andrew Kember,
Tony Sains,
Tony Cook,
Nick Nixon,
Rob Chambers,
Robert Hawk,
Kevin at GM, plus maybe more, I'll know in 2 weeks,
John Gasson
And I'm sure I've missed a few as it is late at night....
-
Tony Sains, Robert Hawk and John Gasson who do they make bats for?
(By the way, I am not sure of Tony's last name who make bats at Warsop)
THanks
-
Tony Sains is Warsop, mind you Clere can make a mean bat too.
Hawk is Hawk
John Gasson is at GN
-
So who does Tony Cook make bats for?
THanks a lot Mike!
-
What about Stu Kranzbuhler? James Cornford?
-
What about James laver
-
I was only talking UK made, of course there are more all over the world.
I would not include James Cornford if Fusion are importing bats, there are others who sell bats and own brands but don't make bats.
I should have added Charlie French and Andreas Neapolitan to the UK makers list...

I think Andy is to new to be call great.....
Anyways I was looking for a great a-la Julain Millichamp in the 80's
"Then with the Ashes tour of 1989 came a significant breakthrough for the company. Word of the quality of Millichamp and Hall bats spread to the Australian test squad and before the end of the tour 11 of the 16 tourists were using Millichamp and Hall bats, albeit disguised with the labels of their better known sponsors. In fact by 1990, 27 of the top 40 Deloittes rated batsmen were doing the same. Remarkably, Millichamp and Hall never had to give away a single bat. "

Rob Pack does make bats! He finishes the Puma bats but makes his own brand of Blue Room
-
Tony cook's hunts county right?
-
What about Gary @ Redback?
-
Tony cook's hunts county right?
Yeah, nice guy as well!
-
Tony must be one of the most experienced makers too, been making bats for 50 years!
-
Yeah, nice guy as well!
yer he is! got about 3 bats off him. just didnt know his surname lol
-
Marty Graham. Does Rob Pack make his Blue Room bats from scratch?
-
going back a few posts I don't think Rob Pack will be too delighted to be called just a finisher of bats.
i'll mention that to him next time I speak with him, he'll be thrilled i'm sure.
yes he does mate, i've been to his showroom and his workshop in irthlingborough.
-
Dom, your constant name dropping is becoming boring. Surely Rob wont care what a bunch of people off a forum like this think of him.
-
Any need for that when he is just responding to what someone else has said?
Back on topic, what about Bernie Facer?
-

In a topic discussing great batmakers, the odd batmakers name is going to be dropped in...
-

Maybe that was the bit Skippy meant?
-
bernie facer had a stroke a few years back and hasn't returned to bat making as far as i know.
real shame his double b's were very popular at my old club.
-
I class machining, pressing, and shaping as making a bat. Others may have differing views but then they might be driven by other motives.
I will add another name to the list who can do the above, Matt Barton.
Also sure that someone could be making from scratch at Warrior and many more up north...
-
Dan Nichols from Vantage.
What about Shilly, he churned out some good un's! So theres still plenty left...

happy days
yep sorry roco trott i getting carried away...
-
You mean trott and bopara
-
yep sorry mate...
For me Trott is out premier batsman in all forms of cricket..
He is a machine the dedication and desire and the sound ability
-
Marty Graham. Does Rob Pack make his Blue Room bats from scratch?
I recall someone telling me that, Marty imports part made bats from India and does the final but if shaping and finishing in NZ. He could be making a few from scratch himself, but not sure if his operations are big enough to warrant owning a pressing machine....
-
Glad Charlie French was mentioned, brilliant in my opinion.
-
agreed there Outlaw i grew up with them and Alfred Evans ACE bats top top class
-
Alex from GN?
-
Alex from GN?
Possible but we shall never know until GN clarifies where certain models/grades are made and by whom. From Alex's comments I think they have policies in place to purposefully avoid being specific about such things. Why they can't bring out a model similar to GN Australia's XXX series where the model is sold as being made by a certain bat maker I don't quite know.
To add to this, can we even say for sure that the Legend is UK made?
