After noticing that a growing number of people are interested in duffle bags on a regular basis, I also am planning on getting one. From what I've seen from forum members, the general trend is either buying a Newbery GT 335 or a Gray Nicolls Pro Performance. I was wondering which one is better and why.
Many Thanks
Wazza

i found the newbery gt duffle too small. couldnt even get my bat, pads, gloves and helmet in the main pocket :/ the puma one i had was very good
-
GN Bag is poor quality in my opinion and looks awful.
I've got a chase duffle bag and the quality and space is brilliant - two external spaces for bats too.
-
I have a GT duffle, the shoe part is a must, its has a bat sleeve inside. But sometimes it can be a bit small, fitting 2 bats, 1 pair of pads, 1 pair of gloves, strippers, helmet, skyer boom bat can be a bit of a squeeze. This also effect the sizes of the 2 outer pockets.
-
I have a gt duffle to fit a load of bats in, does great job but when bats go it wont be needed!
-
I find the GN pro performance great as the bottom section is for boots but it still stands up on its own (if that makes sense) and then there are 3 separate pockets of different sizes which gives you added flexibility deciding what to take with you. Then there is a bat pocket on the outside and inside so all in all a very cleverly designed bag
-
I'm picking my GN Duffle up later so will let you know what i think, but have heard its a top bag, if you want one be quick as it took me ages to locate my one
-
could you stick some pics up too at some point please mate.....
-
will do mate
-
I have a GT duffle, which is decent but haven't tried to use it for normal kit yet.
I was impressed with the GN PP Duggle at the trade show, but haven't tested it for quality, but looks perfect assuming the quality os decent.
-
picked my GN pro performance up on friday and am very pleased with it fits all my kit in and theres room for a couple of bats at least :)
-
any pics?
i haven't seen one in the flesh, so numbers are a bit misleading.
-
ok i'm on it...........

I hope the ayrtek duffle has some sort of padded cover for bats like the wheelie.
-
GN pp duffle is a must buy! I cannot fault it other than the peculiar colour scheme.
-
I went and got a Newbery GT Duffle, got it delivered today: will post pics if anyone needs them.
-
Can you post some pics with the amount of kit you can fit in please?
-
I have 12 bats in mine :D

I have 12 bats in mine :D
Any other gear?
-
no its purely to keep bats stored in atm :)
-
Can you post some pics with the amount of kit you can fit in please?
bats aren't in the duffle as they're bubble-wrapped atm in a box :)
will take a pic of the inside later with 1 set of pads, 1 set of gloves, whites etc.
-
Imo the newbery duffle isn't big enough. Could hardly get any kit in mine hence why I sold it to peps! Think they look good though....
-
Ahh okay, i'm after a new bag for next season, and being a keeper, I need a big enough one for all my stuff. I currently have an old GN powerbow one but it's too much of a squeeze.
-
you'd be lucky to even get your batting gear in a newbery gt duffle! i got a gn quantum bag off mike this week. fairly big, looks good and was preety cheap at £33 delivered.....
-
Do you think it would fit 2 sets of pads, batting gloves, 2 sets of keeping gloves, 2 pairs of spikes, clothes, accessories, and a bat?
-
no i odnt mate
-
what the newbery duffle? not in a million years! my wheelie on the other hand, yes i would think so... i have all of that in mine bar the wking pads and only one pair of spikes and that fits very comfortably

Jimba - I have an Aero Tour bag so I need a less bulky option.
- One of my mates picked that bag up for £23 from sportsdirect.com
N.B. Picked it up from aswanicricket, bartered a bit :)
Good buy, IMO.
-
Yeah I meant the quantum, it sounds pretty good, and it's only £36 on amazon.
-
hate those grips allways rise up
-
@ wazza- yes the newbert is okay as a bag to take kit to nets or something but too small as a main bag
@ rp- the quantum is goodn I like it! I'll stick some pics up when I get home in a while mate. If you fancy one spk to mike... He had a couple by the sounds of it
-
not my bat :)
it's my brother's problem, not mine ;)
Octopus FTW!
-
I know you made the thread wazza but the idea was to find out about the pro's and cons of these bags and I was simply adding my viewpoint....
-
i thought you might want to notice that the title is Duffle Bags.
Bringing Wheelies into the thread sort of messes it up.
-
you know how this forum works wazza, most threads go slightly off topic, it often makes the discussion better.
-
Calm down mate, he's hardly ruining "your" thread, just helping people.
