Hullo Chaps,
Got 3 or 4 bats to tidy up over the winter, and am going to invest in a little palm sander.
2 questions -
i) What grade do you recommend for sanding down the face
ii) Got a lot of old bits of fibreglass tape stuck to edges and face, shall I just sand the (No Swearing Please) off them to get rid?
-
Normally, to start with, I use around grit 80 sandpaper, then going through the grits from 80 through to around 400.
In regard of the fibreglass tape, I usually try to scrape it off with some sort of drawknife, as sanding this will go through alot of sandpaper very quickly.

Oh bugger - I don't posess a draw knife!
Might hve to sand the (No Swearing Please) out of it then!
-
Stanley knife blade will do a job brucey just scrape it off with that to save using loads of sandpaper up
-
i used some 1200 grit wet and dry once that i had left over from polishing my wheels lol
it made the bat like glass but left black markes all over it lol

Yeh prob not advisable simmy lol finer the grade the better the finish tho!

I find steel wool leaves a great finish to the bat after sanding
