Having messed around with my grips for most of the season, starting off with the aero (Wrap) grip and finding this very comfortable in the hands just not quite grippy enough with gloves on, and then moving onto the spiral grip which i am very happy with.
However, I have just applied a combi grip to one of my bats and put a chevron grip over the top and i think this is the best grip combo for me grippy yet cushioned. was just wondering what everyone else favours on their sticks? what grips how many etc?
-
I really don't tend to worry about it, other than to replace my grip when the current one wears through!
-
always used 2 grips, usually a chevron underneath a thick spiral grip.
however i got a lekka recently with the xtrax grip on it and thought the same as you, very soft but limited grip. so i put a wite combi grip over the top and its amazing.
-
im currently using one with a thick spiral one one bat , and an addidas grip with a extra half underneath on the bottom on the other , just ordered a new bat think ill be getting a combi grip for that one , mite try putting one over the top like you .
-
i wasnt confident at first, expected it to be far too thick but with the xtrax being so soft underneath it works great.
after adding the extra grips etc the bats dead weight was over 2.13. heaviest bat ive ever used is 2.10.5 but it feels fine, still has a lovely balance and easy pick up.
-
same as above liam put same grip combo on my lekka and its fantstic!
-
I use a single Grip, Either a snake grip or a Chevron grip,
-
2 Grips, I use a Lord Taverners one because they look cool, and any old one underneath. Doesn't fuss me haha
-
Shock absorba and control grip on top :D
-
Depends on the handle thickness for number of grips, I like chevron/GM control or Shock absorba grips
-
ive only recently come across the chevron and i think its great over the top of a spongey grip as it grips really well
-
Gunn & Moore shock absorba grip, I love it. So other grip for me! It feels so comfortable and is very grippy
-
I use either two chevrons or one whole chevron and then half of one underneath on the bottom half.
-
Single chevron then a thick spiral
-
Either a Chevron/Octopus/Lekka combi in white on top, and a chevron underneath, so just 2 grips for me.
-
Depending on the thickness of the handle i go with either 2 or 3 grips, not concerned about the bottom 2 but the top grip i prefer gm shock absorba but they are difficult to get up here.
-
I go for a plain grip at the bottom and a spiral grip on top. Good grip and feel in my eyes :)
-
i got for half a grip with a snake on top tape at teh top of the handle
-
wtf? - can we have some pics so I can make sense of what people are talking about!
-
I have a chevron on the bottom, half an octopus on top, then a snake on top of that, feels perfect
-
I always use pupa grips. Love the cushioned bit in the middle. Good colours to.
-
2 grips 1 chervron one octapus or spiral ;)
-
Chevron on the bottom with a matrix, octopus or snake on top.
I'm used to a thick girth so it feel's natural ;) :p
-
like the octopus and matrix grips. I find the spiral a bit slippy, ditto the chevron. Not tried a shock absorba or snake.
Only 1 grip due to my small hands, as I like a thin handle to get my hands round. Some of the very thin asian handles I'll have a plain grip underneath and octopus and matrix over the top.
How do you use grips to turn an a round handle into an oval handle?
-
I've got a Puma grip on my bat atm and it's ok, not the best though
Nick, best thing to do is put layers of tape on the front and back of the handle but I suppose you can cut a grip up to do the same sort of job. If you use the tape then build up layers until you get the shape you want.
-
yep I was thinking of putting 2 or 3 gradually narrower and shorter layers of grip on top of each other, both sides of the first grip and then adding the second grip over the top.

the bat on the right in this picture has one ........ iv got some and there really good quality !
produced by lekka
-
if you turn the bat upside down, thats what they normally look like lol, but i do agree theyre very good grips
-
They are good, i suppose it depends on which hand if either you like thicker, top or bottom. They are good grips!
-
I have half Chevron then a white feather grip over that.
-
Currently experimenting with three strips of elastoplast spread down the back of the bottom half of the handle, with a GM Control grip over that.
