Title: Bat Models
Post by: Washington on November 03, 2010, 09:44:21 PM
Bored to death in work and got to wondering if a model of bat has been ever present since the birth of a brand? Obvioulsy newer companies will have but those who have been going 10 - 20 years eg Gray Nics, Kookaburra, GM etc?

The only one that i can think of is the Preastantia? Not sure if its been ever present or how old the company is!!

Started 1990, Praestantia came in around...98-99 at a guess. Yes, I'm sad.

Gunn&Moore seem to periodically re-release the Cannon, but that's still not an ever-present.

Newbery Series 1?

no kook was ridgebacks and bubbles back then...kahuna was newer. M&H is a good shout with their S6 which used to be cork filed rather than wood i think ??? must go back to early 90's id say and my junior cricketing days when my newbery lightweight was in action :D

S6 was a Signature. Original was early nineties.

Mjolnir has been ever present since 1990.

Yep, and the Gold Crown, their 'traditional' bat of the time. That one may date further back.

I had a brand new Kookaburra Ridgeback delivered today, bought circa 1988 and stored ever since in a loft, my first senior bat but a dud, however one for the wall. Also a Centurion if anyone remembers them.

Hasn't the Laver and Wood Signature been being made since the start of the Laver brand?

Still got an almost new Ridgeback limited edition (300 per year) here. Shame I got it soon before I gave up playing as it was rather good. It would be popular with the straight even grain freaks.

I cannot remember who used it but I wanted it before I even got to the shop....

I think we bid against ourselves a lot on ebay.... but I won so I'm happy.

You got a Centurion? I had a couple of those and loved them - and the stickers.

I thought they were Symonds bats re-stickered.

Briefly endorsed by Curtley, Courtney and Malcolm Devon.

Now that was a brand!
