Title: Rob pack or Tim Keeley??
Post by: ProWannabe88 on November 08, 2010, 11:19:35 AM
Ok so I have a pretty hard decision to make in a day or two and was hoping someone may be able to reflect on Rob Packs bats or custom
Service as well as Tims bats if they've got either.
I have the option of a fantastic looking Tim Keeley Pro bat or a custom made by Robert. Both are priced similar the difference is the Keeley bat was made for a special batsmen and the Pack would be custom to my requirements.

HELP!!

the question is - does the keely bat meet your specs or not? There is little point in buying a bat that is wrong for you. If the keely bat is exactly to your specs I would get that, if not go for the Blue Room bat.

This is the problem. The Keeley bats weight is right and the profile isn't something I'd usually ask for but my god it looks amazing!! Ive never been too specific about my profiles as all bats I have differ in regards to middle location and so on but a one off bay would also be nice lol. I'm really struggling to choose between the two.  :(

i totally agree with this, no point getting a bat that that doesnt suit you or your style of play, but if it does meet your spec im sure it will be a blinder

both will be amazing bats im sure of it

PW88 - Mike is "Talisman" who is the person to speak to in this case.

I also would like to see a Robert pack review, but i'm pretty sure theres a blue room reviewed by pete Hosk in his bat inventory post

It's a nice dilemma yes but a pain aswell. I wanted something different, a bit spesh and considered a custom order, but then the Keeley bat was thrown in the works. I don't like the blue room stickers so it wouldn't have them on were I to order a pack bat. If have both if my balance would allow  :D but I have to choose just the one and it's killing me.

I imagine there is something youre not quite happy with re. the TK bat, as normally it would be a straight forward decision in my opinion.

Richard- there isn't an issue with the bat at all, I originally decided I wanted something a bit different/special hence the possible custom and large budget, but when this was thrown in the works I was stunned by the profile and the origin, who it was for etc. I know the bat will be very very good - too good for me  :) but there seems to be few Keeley pros around on here now I've looked. Obv this reflects the quality of the blades, but.... I'm torn. It's a hard choice as I've always fancied getting my hands on a pro's bat but also wondered what it'd be like to actually see my own bay being made and go through the process with the podshaver.

Tough decision. I've got a blue room new wave, grade a-1, knocked in by him. Stunning bat, great service. I've also got a bat off Mike, sachin profile but not made by keeley, but this bat is rediculous in size. I may do a review of the blue room if anyone is interested.

Simmy mate, i dont want to get a bat that i may want to sell on. no doubt if i was to buy the bat i would keep it!
its easy to say 'yeah mate jump at the pro bat' when your not paying for it lol
i would like a sachin bat but the weights are too much for my weedy arms to use

well go to a factory then and get it made to your specs etc

as buying a bat u cant pick up feel is allways a gamble..

Ok guys I have forced myself to make a decision. With time running out on mikes offer and my head about to burst I have organised a date to see Mr Pack. I know some of you will disagree with that decision but I wanted something different, unique and it seems that many of the forum lads have a pro Keeley already. The date of the visit is 21/11 times to be confirmed by Robert.
I will be selecting my own cleft, discussing profile, weight etc and then watching him make the bat in his workshop! I'm sure a few will be interested in a detailed review of the bat and the day out to Northants.

I have had a bat of rob and it was great in every respect, he is a top guy and his customer service is second to none. I have recently acquired a Newbery Uzi C6+ full blade second hand and i presume it was made by Tim or under his supervision. It has a beautiful feel to it and it certainly sounds good of the mallet but there is nothing between my Robert Pack Blue Room and My Uzi all down to you on the day and have a look through robs shop he stocks Newbery bats too i believe which are made by Tim Keeley who everyone says is a top pod shaver.

Awesome stuff  :D I have a shorter blade Uzi sps and it's amazing so will be basing the pack custom on that with the expectation it performs similar, maybe better depending on the chosen profile etc.
