Title: Pads and Budget Help!
Post by: Lefthook on November 17, 2010, 12:08:30 PM
So, I need a new set of pads and have a budget of £55.

Problem is, my super-skinny calves.
I need a light pair of pads which fit snugly to really thin calves, and have a comfortable knee support (kneecaps very tender due to lots of injuries)

They don't have to offer "the best" protection, since I won't be playing a high level of cricket. Unfortunately, I have absolutely no time to visit a shop before christmas to try some on for myself, so would appreciate any help in narrowing them down.

PS. I'm around 5'10.

Any good pads/brands around that price on the net?

I wouldn't go for any GM pads if you have skinny calves. Mine aren't that small however I like my pads to fit tightly and I have some GM Duellist pads from a couple of seasons ago and the straps on those are very long and they would be about 2/3inches outside of the pad unless I didn't have a bubble type thing when strapping them. This could be a problem as the velcro might not be long enough for you to strap them up to how you like them.

However I recently brought some Puma Iridium 5000 pads from a forum member and the straps on those are a lot better as they aren't as long.

The straps on my newbery pads seem fairly short. The new mongoose pads look very good, may be worth considering

Matt and Jimba,

Thanks for the feedback - I'll keep it in mind! I see what people mean when they say that cb forums will empty your wallet.

Already been inundated with offers. Great site this, for me - not so much for my girlfriend!
