Hi was thinking of getting a pair of the Morrant International Ultralite pads (as in link below) and was wondering if anyone had owned a pair or could comment on the quality and protection they offer.

Many Thanks, Michael.

Absolutely superb in every aspect and well worth the money.
-
Yeah they are great and they have £10 off at morrants at the moment.
I dont use them in bad weather though cos of the fabric is easy to get dirty and hard to clean
-
Thanks guys, i think they shall be added to the christmas list :) anyone know about the quality of their gloves?
-
The pads look awesome! Anyone know where I could get a pair in Aus?
Looking at 60 pounds shipping from the UK! Aarghhh!

£60 postage.... ouch
you Australians arent having much luck recently ;)
-
Hahaha, that comment wasn't helpful at all Canners!
Aus team is getting what it deserves anyway - ignored all the signs of weakening, took great players for granted and assumed they would always have a wealth of talent to choose from. How guys like Stuart Clark and Brad Hodge to name aren't playing... Anyway that is a whole other topic far removed from finding Morrant Pads! :)

Exactly what i was thinking. . . where is stuart clarke. . .??
-
Protos do a pair of those for a third of the price
-
Have you seen the list of stockists on the Morrant website
-
do you have a link to the Protos ones?
I am just ware there are a lot of alternative designs about which do not really hit the mark.
The Morrant one, it is hard to describe are almost perfectly ergonomically designed. All the folds and sahoping is in the right place and they feel almost perfect, but because they are injection moudled and are left maluble than normal pads, if this design was not spot on then i think that they would be no where near as effective oras comfortable.
The best thing about the mrrants, other than being feather light and protective is that you dont feel like you are wearing any pads. I strongly doubt cheaper alternatives would. THey would feel like wearing funny looking pads, and certainly not Morrants.
In short, Morrants are different gravy and well worth the investment.
Other makes, for me woudl just feel exactly what they are cheap alternatives.

@MGFisher23, sorry for jacking your thread!
@100 not out, who knows mate, he got injured a while back and has been pretty much overlooked since.
@thedon, the Protoss pads do not look too bad actually, do you have a pair yourself?
@pacman75cricket, I've had a look and the Australian site listed no longer trades they are just an 'information portal' at the moment...!
-
Lol Protos pads look pathetic
-
I'm not a fan of the pads pictured in the Cricket Supplies forum link. However the pads on the fcssport site I don't mind too much.
-
Rik, I havent got them, but will probably get some in feb. I've been to the Protos shop in India. Their gear is of good quality. Got the county pads and some gloves. They've lasted me over 5 years!
-
Morrant pads arent PU faced are they? That would put me off (just personal preference not saying its better or worse)
what is the weight of each pad does anyone know? I'm looking for a top quality, high protection, light weight 2 strap pad. So far I havent seen anything I prefer to the GM 2011 RSB Original.
Thoughts?

I've had both. Morrants are slightly lighter & a better fit (for me), but the RSBs are wipe clean. I liked both but I've kept the morrants for this season & sold the RSBs

you wont have used the 2011 RSB's? I assume your referring to the prior model? the 2011's look better (for what that's worth)
-
No my RSB's had the dark lining (2009 model I think). I believe they're white inside now. Don't know if there's any manufacturing differences - the external shape is certainly the same.
I'd still take the Morrants over them, but only just, & the Morrants do look tricky to keep clean.
-
found them....I think. Morrant style with PU face
