I thought with all the love there seems to be for old bats it would be nice to have a thread where people can post pics and stories of their old favourite or retro bat. Hopefully this will encourage people to get out the "old faithfull" and regale us with merry tales of summer sixes.
I'll get things started with a bat that used to be my dads and has sadly been neglected, a thorough refurb later...
One Duncan Fearnley Match, about 2.7 (I remember it being heavier)

How old is that?
-
used it when i was 13-14 i would say so that would make it 15yrs old now! still sounds alright tho ;) in the loft still
-
Genuinely looks like cellotape around it.
Looking forward to seeing more classic bat pics
-
think the fibre edge has faded over the last decade of living in the loft!!! lol may dig it out again though as was either a H or SH cant remeber now!
-
Be careful Tom that's in sams weight range
-
haha yeh hes already got one now so shouldnt need another!!!
-
i don't have the bat anymore or a photo but had an awesome old GN powerspot bat - incredible middle and weighed about 2lb 6oz!

is that duncan fearnley for sale beach
-
Sadly not at the moment, cos it was my dad's I can't really bring myself to part with it. If I ever do I'll let you know.
That recurve certainly is befitting, it looks practically new? I assume that's because you're such a clean striker of the ball it leaves no marks on the bat?
-
just found this in my wardrobe:

one of the first SH's i used, was given to me by an ex northants player so i suppose its a 'pro' bat ;)
-
Modulus, now was that the one with honeycomb?
-
Yes the modulas did have honeycomb in the back. This 1 doesn't so I assume its from before they started doing that
-
what does that weigh jimba?
-
I shall check its very light 2.7 I'd guess
-
Scales say 2.8. Picks up lighter though
-
just my cup of tea, love the older bats - bet thats a beauty!
-
I have 2 in mind for this thread, a Salix Vantage and a kook ridgeback LE which served me well. Will get pics up when I'm home.
-
I used it as a spare up untill last year. Got a little crack in the toe. Would rather keep it in the collection than totally snap it. The rebound is still alright though!
-
It was. I gave a somewhat knackered one to Mike before xmas.

bats i had as a youngster that were up there with the best ive ever had were a gray Nicolls Sabre 1000 megastrike, the grains were unbelievable and boy did it go and also a scimiter LE which was used until it feel apart..... i havent got pics tho which saddens me
