i like the retro gold big time
-
I lie the retro bats, might have to pop in sometime to their shop as it's not to far away from me.
-
lucky man i might fly across to have a mad tour
-
£200...I really am going to have to take a trip up there. Tomorrow perhaps. 10 miles away.
-
still think they should bring out the MAGNUM SUPREME retro though
-
nice stuff, some of the softs look really similar to the H4L stuff, surprising but nice
-
Nope - not liking it at all. Nothing interesting or eye-catching about the softs.
.... and as for the Gold bat, since when has that amount of concaving, and that shape of edges been deemed as 'retro'?
-
the concept of the sticker is the only retro thing Bruce and agree about the softs

In fairness, if they had produced a bat wth an old fashioned profile, everyone would be bitching about the rubbish small edges and tiny profile...
-
the bats fine and what i want is the same pads solanki wears

Well I don't agree, as it would clearly be marketed as a retro bat, because it has a retro shape, which was thin edges and flat spine.
This bat is marketed as a retro bat with a modern shape - doesn't make sense to simple old me!

But then I've heard alot of complaint about the Fearley sticker designs of the last few years, but no complaint about their shapes. I honestly don't think in this world where we have all be brainwashed into thinking big edges are good, a truely retro bad would sell.
-
John, I think you're missing my point. I'm only complaining that they are marketing a bat as Retro - yet the shape is anything but.
That's my beef really.

That is a fair point that I missed, apologies. I think they'd have been better to re-do all their stickers with the old fashioned look, and stay away from saying retro. It is without doubt a better look than their recent efforts. They are literally on my doorstep, and this is the first time I've seriously considered going along for a visit in many years, so I guess it is working for them, on me at least.

all i know is i want 1

I'm sure it is partly clever photography, but the profile looks incredible.

It is reassuring to see the name back. There is a bit of a family link, my Grandfather and Duncan were good friends back in the 60s and 70s, I think they attended the same social club. So really I should investigate it more. I have emailed them with a few questions, and I may pop into the shop tomorrow as I'm heading past there.

Jonpinson I presume you must be worcestershire based like myself, what league do you play in?
I really like the retro thing at the moment. Loving GN's effort, that's probably because of Strauss's ton last night. Wonder what other main brands could come back with a retro theme?

I have found Paul Fearnley a top man to deal with always answer your questions quickly even on a Sunday

Currently between teams, but I have been offered a go with West Malvern. Used to play for Teme Valley Nomads when they existed. Haven't played for about 8 years though.
I think there is certainly a place for retro styles. Scoop, Dynadrive, Slaz V12 etc. The new GN stuff looks great.

Only emailed them an hour ago, I expect nothing back tonight. Might well pop in tomorrow though.

Any news from Fearnley yet? I live on the other side if Worcestershire pretty close to the Worcs/Warks border. Play my cricket in the Cotswold hills league for Shipston on Stour CC

Yeh I received an email back, saying a tour would be no problem. Just got to arrange when.

Nice work. I remember having a Fearnley 5* when I was about 13 got it for a few quid from a carboot. It was far to big for me the handle was so springy but boy did it fly an adult at my team bought it offa me. Think if I had been a bit older and stronger I would have kept it. Hate thinking of bats I have passed on when I really should have kept them
