Title: Pads which ones
Post by: procricket on November 28, 2010, 05:16:38 PM
Right did a measurement of my pads i need there between 39-40cm and that makes me need Small Mens and i have already liked small pads with a small compact top hat.

Sounds funny but the best pad i have found fit wise is the Hunts County Clipper does anybody have any suggestions

I like to wear them low as possible not to bothered about design anybody got any ideas...

To see what size pads required
from what points do you measure ?

Picked up a pair of Ayrtek moderns yesterday along with some other bits :) had them on when I got back and they sit really low and are light as anything. No traditional top hat to worry about and really comfortable IMO. Will need to be shaped but if you like the look I'd reccomend those mate

Website Mate. I'll get some of mine up on kit thread when I have all my gear :) they are really nice though, bloody comfortable for a modern pad and pics don't do them justice

middle of the knee cap down to the instep - where the tongue of your shoe would sit.

I am investing in some SAF's mate. Might be worth a look (not to detract from the Ayrtek chaps above...they are quality by the sounds of it. Pidge slept in his helmet all weekend by the sounds of it)

saf are top quality pads made from the same vendor as my last pair

i measure from a bit different i measure 1cm further down from the arch as i like them sat low and still need 40cm pads.

ProWannabe we talking the ccc cut ones ayrtek modern had 2 sets of them not to my liking

it a bugger but as people know iam a fussy bugger with softs and sick of buying 10 pairs a season...

I'm picky as you like mate as well, going with the Arytek elites in small mens. Was looking at the Blades but have a larger top hat.

What's the cheapest you've been the Blade 950's for?

Post by: Richard on November 30, 2010, 09:22:12 PM
Dave, forgive me if im intruding a bit, would it not be worth asking one of the Indian makers to do you a pair exactly how you want them?
Title: Re: Pads which ones
Post by: procricket on November 30, 2010, 09:22:49 PM
ayrtek elites does he make small mens not sure he does

Rich i had a pair made last season for me but sold them on from Chase

Not sure a Indian maker would make up 1 pair for me...

So Tom does have small mens TOM????

Post by: ProWannabe88 on November 30, 2010, 09:43:19 PM
I'm only 5.9 and my Ayrtek pads fit me nicely. Wasn't expecting the top hat to be as small either. Very Nice pads and great price IMO

Yes mate the elite model. Really nice pads mate. I got some modern ones as well which I really like now I've tried them on properly and they are shaping easily enough. They are ridiculously light.
Title: Re: Pads which ones
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on November 30, 2010, 09:48:19 PM
Roco wears them at 6ft 3 as well mate and big Dave is 6.6 and said they are ok but would see if osm were better fitting so I'm sure they will be ok for u ;)

Dave, perhaps try to get a lower end model pads? I mean rather than buying top of the range try mid range pads as lower end compare to higher end fit better

Dave, I think I've got a pair of these in my stock box - they look exactly the same, and they are really, really nice - quite light too.

If you think you might buy them, talk to me first.

Any forum friendly christmas discount Arytek? I was looking at the Traditional Pads for my brother for christmas. Or do you have any of the pad samples left?
Title: Re: Pads which ones
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on December 03, 2010, 11:06:17 AM
No discounts on the kit I'm afraid as it's the new range for next season and is already cheaper than most other brands clobber...I'm sure simmy and prowannabe will vouch for the quality of it....

Scuff sheets are gel like to enhance the grains Leo and can be sourced ;)

No worries, I'm just trying to keep my christmas costs in check as it always seems to get out of hand. I can't decide between the Arytek traditionals and some screaming cat from cricket box.

How does a scuff sheet enhance the grains ? And does it really change colour after impact? Info please Tom

I would also like to know about these featherlight traditional looking pads
Title: Re: Pads which ones
Post by: Ayrtek Cricket on December 03, 2010, 12:30:09 PM
its just a clearer type of material thats more gel like so not as cloudy as the hammer edge style of scuff sheet so makes the grains appear clearer.....not surr about it changing colour that would make it pretty ugly quickly!

All pads give good quality protection at 60-85mph, as far as I know. Of course except the lowest range ones I believe. I think there are lots of pads that'll give him great protection for less than £60, eg. SS ton matrix. Though do ask the smaller bakers on here (eg. h4l and ayrtek, as h4l are doing discounts on lh gear ATM I think...) I'm right handed but have some eft handed newb gt cadbury youths pads which I could give you for £15 if you wanted...but these could be spares, or net pads, as you wouldn't Want to wear the match ones out too much.

Our elite ones fall towards the £60 end of ur budget + P&P or could have premier pads and gloves for £85
