On the back of the Hayden KP Bat talk.
Kp uses a 2llb 10oz bat was wandering what weight bat others use
-
most use 2.8- 2.10
-
Apart from Gayle and Tendulkar who use around 3lb
-
Suliemann Benn is around 2lb 10.
-
think sachin is 2.12 1/2?
-
Sachin is around 2lb12 as he has gone lighter kp recently said on twitter his match bat is 2lb8 which is mega light for a big man but it works
-
Sir Garfield Sobers used a bat weighing no more than 2lb 3 granted craftmanship has come on hugely as pick up weights have decreased..........It is entirely personal prefference!!! but if i was facing 90+ mph i would want as light as possible!
-
Lots just don't know. They all ask for 2lb 8-10 but that mean anything up to 2lb 14oz.
-
What's tresco's going to be then Tom?
-
Pakistani players such as Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Mohammad Yousuf, Taugeeq Unar, Mohammad Irfan, Azhar Ali, Sohail Tanvir and few others uses bats aroun 2.8-2.10.
-
think sachin is 2.12 1/2?
My Tendulkar bat agrees with that :D
-

Hasn't ask for a specific weight, it's all about the feel. Will probably be 2lb 12ish though.
-
My Tendulkar bat agrees with that :D
There must be more Tendulkar bats floating round this forum than he has in his bag!
-

Does that mean he will get 3lb then
-
Didn't I just say it was about the feel? If a 3lber felt ok, then use it he would. I'd imagine it would be on the heavy side though.

Or we know the right people :D
-

Doubt it, I don't think they contract out to Solitaire
-

I'd guess they're rejects? As the kind of clefts Tendulkar gets you don't sell to the public unless you know someone very special!
For each pro bat you get 2 or 3 rejects which aren't good enough for them, if you've ever played in Sussex there's a few Gayle and Tendulkar bats floating around. They're the right spec, just not up to the pro standard.
-
I heard somewhere he gets 300 bats a year given to him so plenty to go around
-

that would not leave too many clefts for the other pros!!!
Looking at the bat with which Sachin got his 200 vs SA in the ODI and the bat he used in the tests against NZ, don't think he would have more than 5-6 bats in his kit at point

As far as I can see there are two types, one: made specifically for the pro in question, that for whatever reason, were not taken up and two: bats made by the same person to the same spec as 'copies' but in reality would easily match the requirements of said pro.

A good proportion of those will be good stuff, but I think quite alot will be trash made by poor people just wanting to show respect.

most bats that are sold as sachin's or any other pros bats would be copies which are simialr in weight and profile (to increase sales in some cases) but not necessarily in performace, pick-up and balance. The latter 3 being the key factors.

That is true, however know the right person and you will get the right bat. I know of at least one chap on here who has a bat that was made specifically for SRT, which is pretty special, but they don't come along very often. Mine is made by his UK maker to exact spec, down to the low density cleft. So it is as close as you can realistically get.
-
Irani used a 4lb bat at one stage in his career...
In my opinion we look far to deeply and make a lot of claims that it was so and so's bat, and it is pro quality etc. When really any company could state it was made for player x as just a sales point.
-
Tim Ambrose uses the lightest bat i know of at around 2lb4oz
-

3'4 at the end of his career for T20.
-
I always thought most pros used lightish bats 2.6-2.9....
When u see the weight of bats on the stats on telly they always seem 2.9 max but I dunno how true those stats are
-

Tendulkar himself once said in a video that he has around 5-6 bats in kitbag. I did post a video of it a while ago where he spoke about his cricket equipment.
Not only in NZ Sachin used that 200 bat in SL series as well. Here is a thread which I made on it;
http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=7815.msg115605#msg115605
Gavaskar spoke about that bat as well
-
Azhar used a 2"7 when he was last over with us, had a few for this summer but not sure about his new Ishan ones.
-
I heard somewhere he gets 300 bats a year given to him so plenty to go around

-
But Tim keeley has made bats for him and so has Marty Graham and so on
-

what make / model would this be ?
-
Both.
-
Collingwood uses a 2'9-2'10, surprising for the size of them!
-
Does Colly not use a heavier net bat too?
-
Remember reading in a cricket equipment pull out that Ian Bell uses 2lb 8oz, Matt Prior 2lb 9oz and Graeme Swann 2lb 10oz (I think, might be 2lb 11oz) as he said he likes to look down at his bat and be confident with it

Think it is this one - a 4lb net bat he uses to try and make sure the bat comes down straight!

I reckon so http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/image/443739.html?search=collingwood;page=5

Go on the GM website and watch the swanny videos - think he says 2'10 - 2'10.5 but goes on pickup.
-
Best place to find out is watch the Domestic T20, they have their weights/fav bands etc as they come in
-
They're often not correct, players supply the weight yes - but lots of players don't know or they have different weight bats. For example Gareth Andrew had 4 different weights of bats last season - the MMi3's were 12 oz and 2lb 15 oz. The CoR3 were 2 lb 10 and 9oz. The form they fill in from Sky though only asks about one bat though.
-
Ah i see, yeah they have so many to choose from it probably changes daily. From what the majority say it's on pickup and feel.
-
But Tim keeley has made bats for him and so has Marty Graham and so on
Interesting read this many have said they have made bats for Tendulkar and indeed anybody could turn up and offer him a bat if you have some kind of reputation..
Ask Marty how many he has made for Tendulkar i suspect you find the answer in the picture he puts on his website.
Good bit of marketing if you ask me.
oh forgot to say the 2 players i know both get 2lb 9oz
-
Marty nay have made one but more than likely repaired a few for him while there but mike said tim has had bats requested by sachin (well his agent for him) so good enough for me
