Title: V Sports Kit
Post by: Watsontotty on November 09, 2008, 11:15:06 PM
As I'm sure most will know but V Sports have a 50% off sale running at present and a lot of people have bought products in the sale, can all put pictures up of there new kit as and when it arrives. Please only post about kit you have bought from V Sports on this topic, my stuff should arrive on on Tuesday and found the customer service to be superb and very very helpful. If you didn't know there was a 50% sale on then i suggest you get across very very quickly.

Im thinking of getting a GM hero, but the postage is a pain, has anyone been in and looked at the gear ? any good ?

I used to live in Coventry and use V Sports all the time and can only say from my experience that they are excellent and reputable sellers and I wouldn't think twice about using them. I haven't seen their stock they are selling now but I gave them a call on Saturday about a bag and they couldn't have been more helpful so might be worth a call?

How are the GM heros ? tend to pick up light or heavy ?

they have a low middle so im guessing heavier than a catalyst or purist
Title: Re: V Sports Kit
Post by: Outlaw on November 10, 2008, 04:36:04 PM
They feel a tad heavier nothing major, friend of mine usually has 2lb 9oz Catalysts from GM,  GM sent him a 2lb 8oz Hero, scored nearly 2000 runs with it in the season.  As with any bat though have a feel before you buy, as every bat will feel different.

Just go off the phone from vsports and they are a very helpful indeed. Unfortunately the last Zeus was sold this morning so I'm stuck between a Powerbow, Hero or a custom vsports bat. Anyone here had any experiences with custom vsports bats?

gramw has, im sure he will tell you

any one had any experince with a kook blade?

First sponsorship Ian Bell got was with V Sports (which I know is 10 years plus ago) and the bats they made for him were beauties so if they are anything to go by then don't think you can go wrong at those prices (and having the bat custom made to your exact specs), just depends if you want a named brand I suppose.

jandgcricket  on the last topic you asked what specific things i got

i got a edge 5 crown . Any one had any experince? does any one now if its grade 1 or 2 .
i ordered gray fusion 4 star gloves but they were sold out so i got hunts pulse
grays skin
gray batting shoes
grays nitro bag
and anti scuff
think that was it

Ordered some kookaburra gloves early on saturday morning and got them about 9 today. Very good service

Post by: Tom on November 11, 2008, 10:41:53 AM
My kit came today, no chance for pics yet. But the Zeus has 6 grains with quite a thin profile (wasn't expecting anything magical as it's just left overs really) but picks up very nicely, the APX bag is great and the Ti Grill and helmet are also very good.
Title: Re: V Sports Kit
Post by: eaowbear on November 11, 2008, 10:53:10 AM
Can I ask your opinion of the Newbery APX bag as I was narrowing down my choice between that one, the SPS bag, a Slazenger Elite Pro and the Puma Team Wheelie so would be interested what you think of it?
Title: Re: V Sports Kit
Post by: Tom on November 11, 2008, 10:59:46 AM
The APX is now out of stock on V Sports, but the bag itself is very nice. I'm not sure how much kit you'd get in there if you're a Keeper, but if you're just a batsman it's a very nice size. Not sure on having the external bat pockets, as I'm not sure if they'd get knocked about in there. But all in all a very nice quality bag, the colour scheme is also a lot plainer compared to the other bags. With it being majority black dirt shouldn't show up as much.

Got my Newbery Zeus today, really finished well.  Nice profile, pretty decent grains for the price.  Picks up well.  All round a good buy for the future.

Once you payments have been cleared and stock checked you get an automated reply saying order dispatched but obviously if its on a weekend your kit will be shipped out on the Monday/Tuesday so expect it wed/thr if that makes sense.

had the v lite batting pads and there seemed pretty nice, sold them now though for £15 as they didnt suit me so only used them in one net, are you keeping the nitros?

Didn't buy the pads for myself there part of my nephews Christmas present, how did you find the protection ?
Title: Re: V Sports Kit

well like i said i only used them in one net and didnt get hit lol, but when i had a look at them the protection didnt look that great however i always think that about molded pads
Title: Re: V Sports Kit
Post by: Liam-SCCC on November 11, 2008, 09:12:58 PM
also do all the bats come with that anti scuff on it, or do you have to ask for the anti scuff?
Title: Re: V Sports Kit
Post by: Watsontotty on November 11, 2008, 09:25:20 PM
No i asked for them to add the anti scuff separate as I'm not fussed about oiling the face of a bat but obviously i oil the back and toe etc. I find it does not effect performance or how long the bat lasts in any way.
Title: Re: V Sports Kit
Post by: Liam-SCCC on November 11, 2008, 09:30:40 PM
ok, its just i got a kookaburra one for my bat
Title: Re: V Sports Kit
Post by: Liam-SCCC on November 12, 2008, 05:33:51 PM
here is my blade and a couple of other bits that i got from v sports, as you can see ive made a couple personal modifications to the bat, put 2 white double chevrons on it and taken off the v sports sticker, will be oiling it and then waiting and putting the kook anti scuff on it.

Received my V Sports custom made inferno this morning. Asked for the following specs:

2lb 7 or 2lb 8oz
Mid to low middle
8-9 grains
Large profile as possible for the weight
Light pick-up

and it has come back bang on 2lb 8oz on my scales, 8 grains and is rather a large piece of wood as can be seen in the photos!  Not sure it will suit me as not as light a pick up as usually use so will either take some getting used to or will sell it, so if anyone is interested PM me.

EDIT - Just put some better pictures up
