Title: Extra Padding
Post by: SG6-18 on December 19, 2010, 10:48:39 AM
Currently my Newbery Uzi pads (not 5*) are a bit light on protection. Got hit at 80mph on bowling machine, and it stung like hell! My old set were fine at this speed. Any ideas?

Only thing you can do is purchase a new pair of pads.

Craig, i believe you can purchase sheets of high density foam which i suppose could be inserted behind the original padding, not sure where from but it is possible i guess

A dense yoga mat or sleeping mat might be the type of foam you're looking for, you can cut it up and it's cheap. Hockey shin pads come in all sorts of shapes, sizes and mouldings that could work.

I'll keep thinking and let you know if I come up with anything useful but chances are someone on here may have a cheap pair going.

Foams would be be the best suggestion but are going to look very DIY when cut and inserted unless u know someone who's handy with a needle.

Plenty of options but you would be better of spending the money on A new set and a decent foam fit for purpose would be £20 or so

you can get high density foam on ebay which you can put in the pads which will help - might be a bit ungainly - but Tendulkar and Ramprakash both add extra padding to their pads.
