I was looking through eBay last night and I spotted a signed Warsop bat. It's full size and weighs approx 2.12. Put a cheeky bid in and won it, do you reckon I send it of to get returned and have those signatures removed.
Here is the bat

If they won't come off £11 quid ain't much to have spent.
-
Might be worth sending Warsop an e-mail first or giving them a call (or e-mail with the link so they can see it) to ask about what type of bat it is and to check that it would be worth it but must be worth a shot! Hell of a good spot - hats off!
-
chances are this isnt made from english willow of any descriprion, looks like a proper autograph bat, they pick up like a bunch of lead and are purely for display purposes.
theres some leicestershire signed ones at my club that are the same - sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
-
Id say that its not a bat worth using as its specifically labelled Autograph.
It must be worth more than £11 to an Essex/cricket fan.
Id hang on to it, well spotted there fella.
-
Mr Cricket - Don't worry about being the bearer of bad news, I'll be pleasantly surprised if it was anything other than a lead plank, but for 11 quid I didn't think it was to bad.
My top bid was £6 and I went to bed not expecting to have won. Could get close to my £11 back by selling stickers and using the grip!
-
That is an amazing find

haha, could display it?
-
Im only going to be interested in it if it's got potential to be used as a bat. If not, it's being resold, hopefully for the 11 quid I payed!
-
I'll have it off you bud if you don't want the bat.
-
I will be selling it most probably whether it's only a suitable for autographs or if it's a good batting bat.
Will have to wait till it comes in the new year
-
I'll buy you a pint and a packet of pork scratchings for it??
-
Don't temp me with pork scratchings, that could be a deal clincher!!
-
good find, dont think it will be english willow though. id keep it as is and frame it.
-
I'm not keeping it if it's not useable as a bat, had a few people make offers on here for it and I will resell it as I'm not an Essex fan.
-
you could display it in your club. just a thought... what kind of bat are you after?
-
I might even donate it to my club to raffle off. What do you mean by what type of bat I'm after?
-
top find mate, even it you cant get them removed for £11 to have an autographed bat by essex is an absolute bargain :)
-
Right just been to pick the bat up, first impressions are good. Had a quick knock with a ball and it seems fairly responsive. Will do more of a full review and photos after my tea. Somethings are just more important!
-
Also meant to say that it's fitted with a toe guard that's been properly fitted, would they do that on a bat that was not destined to be used?
-
Right here are the pictures of the bat that I got. Its a really nice looking and feeling bat and I have tested it a little by bouncing a ball on it albeit gently as I dont want to dammage the surface and it comes of it very nicely, so I am thinking that it could be used as a match bat. I counted 13 grains with about an inch of heartwood on the outside edge for a right hander. It also comes complete with toe guard, Im not sure they would have bothered to put this on a bat that was not to be used.
Im in a bit of a pickle as what to do, keep it signed or sand them off and use it as a match bat, think I am going to have to email Warsop some pictures and get their opinion.

top bargain Kenny lad i think that is the ebay bargain of the year////
Lucky man well done
-
Looks far too good a bat to have signatures on it ... the first signature looks familiar, but can't think of the person
-
Weird because it has 'autograph' on it..
-
I'm gonna guess it's an import
-
Its signed by the Essex 2010 squad, think this is the correct order - Jimmy Foster, Ryan ten Doeschate, Danish Kaneria, Scott Styris, Mark Pettini, Adam Wheater, Tim Phillips, Tony Palladino, Matt Walker, John Maunders, Maurice Chambers, Tom Westley, Jaik Mickleburgh, David Masters, Chris Wright and Grant Flower
The 'Autograph' signature is a seperate sticker to the main bat sticker and on this model it usually has a sticker saying 'Superior' which I presume is interchangable. Like I say the reason I think it is an actual match bat is due to the toe gaurd on the bottom - unless someone knows more than me (quite likely on here!)
Im not an Essex fan which is why I am thinking of getting rid of the names on it, but that it a bit of a shame - but then so is not using a good bat!
-
I'm gonna guess it's an import
How come Tom?
-
Looks like a 2 spring red handle. Warsop's made in England have 3 black, or at least the 2 I've had did.

-
Cheers Mr Cricket its better than I was expecting and Tom it is a 4 piece handle, well it's got 3 pieces of rubber and 4 parts wood!

Any batmakers on here willing to refurb it and remove all signatures, but keep the stickers on it?
If so PM me a price

Any luck?? The bat would probably be a better manager to your football club that the current human!!
