There is no best grip, its all personal preference how the bat feels in your hands is the most important thing

I think I've used just about every grip going other than a lords taverners but my set up now, after many testers is half a chevron as a base with a thick spiral or as now a combi grip over the top. But as Greg says it's all personal preference and what you think feels best in your hands.

Chevrons weight in at about 1 oz  thick spirals can be upto 2 oz so it is a significant weight difference if you are going to two grips

Not sure the weight of combi about one and a half I would have thought!

My perfect grip is a GM shock absorber, has the feel of 1 and a half grips. I love it!

If you like a spongy grip try an octopus under a chevron, if not then just go 2 chevrons

Only reason I've ever used two grips has been when the handle is too thin. If you have a fat handle, why do you need more than one rubber?

In terms of your question SG6-18 - what grip set up you use will vary depending on the type of handle you have (thick oval through to skinny round) and what feel from the bat you are looking for to also how you play. If you are very bottom handed, sometimes the extra half grip at the bottom can help, if you are very top handed it may not. You have to go with what you find comfortable.
Having said that I have scored hundreds using the same bat with a chevron grip, an octopus grip and a ribbed grip on it (at different times!). It just depends what mood i am in as to what i put on. Currently I am using a half chevron underneath and a double thickness chevron over the top of an oval handle - I find that set up helpful for me, but some of my team-mates hate the set up.
