Title: My new Laver and Wood (Yes. Another one!!)
Post by: yvk3103 on December 29, 2010, 01:19:17 AM
Hi Guys!

Just receied the pictures of my new Laver & Wood from James. This one has been made to a different profile (not the standard LW Special Profile). I send James pictures on my LW Harlequin and a GN Legend and Quantum and asked him to to pick specific features from each bat.

Honestly was not hoping it would turn out so good.

The cleft used by James is a special one - low density and from a lot reserved from a contracted NZ player for who he is making bats for the WC 2011 (peplow can vouch for this).

The bat is 2.9 all in. The willow looks lush.

Here are the pictures. Enjoy.

Sorry mate cannot tell the price I paid as I have a special price for my bats. To give you an idea. It is highter than the price I gave you for the other LW but lower than the advertised/website price.

I had picked 3 clefts. The otehr two clefts were with tighter grains (11+) but were 1515g and 1540g. Since I wanted a big profile, James gave the 1515g cleft some more drying and made bats with both the the clefts (the one pictured aboe and the 1515g clefts). He however felt that the bat came out better in feel and performance on this cleft and sent me this one.

Amnyway just by looking at the celft once cannot makeout the performance quotient, so I left it to James to take the call and I know he always gives honest opinions.

Yes, the concaving does not go all the way down till the toe, but given the way the Lavers tap up near the toe I know it will be as responsive as it should be and very strong.

The profile is mid to low and I hope I do not use the toe much to score my runs!! :)

Looks stunning! All these pictures of seemingly perfectly made bats are tempting me to go LW's way, but I can't: simply because of my age, I can't fork out as much on a bat as theirs cost... :(
How big are the edges, I think they're over 35mm?

Loads of the Lavers have concaving on them. Seems to be pretty common on the Carbo range.

the concaving is the laver special profile which is purely concaving.

Mine has the sharpest concaving i have seen on a bat mate

Just picked it up from Parcel Force today and it is simply amazing. Much better than what I expected. Dream pick-up and balance.

Sometimes you pick-up and bat that is not the profile you would usually play with and then...it just feels good and the first words that come to your mind are "this is the one" , same feeling with this bat..... this one is here to stay

Yes, James is making quite a few bats for some contracted NZ players for the WC 2011.....

When are you officially becoming a Laver dealer Yash?

Not being funny but lets keep it in perspective  :)

Nothing of that sort of on cards, but LW will have a shop/distributor in the UK very soon. If I have something to do with Lw, it will be just on this forum like one of PWB does for Rob....

Honestly, I do not have the time (biggest reason) and the experience and knowledge required to add any value to LW.

No I do not think so. But this is my opinion. Honestly, cannot comment.

Owzat had got a job lot done a couple of years back with they have sold out last year itself but have not removed LW from their website.

Wait for some interesting news to come soon.....

They will be having only one "face" in the UK. Does not make sense having multiple people representing them that too for custom bats.

Sorry mate but if you are PM'ing people out of the blue offering good deals of Lavers, you're not doing it out of the kindness of your heart. You may not be an 'official dealer' but you are promoting a product with a view to making money. :)

I don't know whether the plan Laver had involving you and this forum is still going to happen, but I think it would make more sense to have a section for it, wouldn't want people to think you are trying to make a few bob off the forum for nothing in return. :)

I have no problem with people gushing about a product that they believe in, and that could well be true with you, but there is a bit more to the story than that.

If I was to buy a laver I'd want an exact copy of this one.....

Will be good to see them in the uk, as I'm sure they will be very popular!!!!

Will they be as expensive the uk ones?

Sorry mate but if you are PM'ing people out of the blue offering good deals of Laver's, you're not doing it out of the kindness of your heart.

Mate, all I said was I could possibly help you get a good deal and put a word for you to Andy and James and then asked you to deal directly with LW. Moreover, LW are looking to set their foot in the UK and wanted me to spread the word to my local clubs etc., and and since I am on this forum, I thought why not generate some interest here given the many LW owners here and interest.

Regarding Laver's plans for the forum, well those who need to know, know what is going on.

The problem we have on this forum is that, people if provided with any information on help always feel someone is puling off a fast one. Let's get out of this suspecting mentality and grow-up. If you are not sure of anything or not confident dealing with someone on this forum, then stay away rather than initiating meaningless debates and discussions which are not going to add any value to the forum or its members. Please remember someone has paid for this forum and many people put in a lot of effort to make this forum run and be recognized as "the best" cricket forum around.

A lot of people including the owner of this forum knows, I am just interested in everything related to cricket and hence end-up helping him and some other friends.

Since I have access to kit at very good prices, I occasionally offer to get some people on this forum good deals and save them a few ££ (and there will be many who can confirm this.) I am not sure what people think of me on this forum, but those who have dealt with me would be in a better position to comment on me and my dealings here.

I think people should not jump the gun in making such statements and give time for things to work out. Such statements will not help the forum get any big names, which we all want....

Let's keep to the topic (what was it btw??) and stop going in a tangent into irrelevant debates and discussions....

I know YASH and can tell you know he is not the distributor that is confidential but if Yash is offering you Laver and Wood bats at a very good price in stead of slating him maybe you should buy it.....

I including have become very negative at the minute from this forum because we all seem to be putting people kit down if it for sale (even i fell into the trap once)..

My theory is if you do not want it do not buy it....

If he was offering out a Laver for cheap what is the problem  ???????

It's funny when there is a Laver distributor would he join this forum because of all the conjector about things and the crap thrown at things...
