As the title says i have saved for a little while (hide 50 pound a month from the mrs for a few months) and got enough money to buy a couple of bats i have made a decision one 1 to get but i want another wondering what people think and there recommendations....
I like concaving and weight between 2lb 7 to 2lb 10 depending on pick up......
I could be boring and go with another Laver but i would like to know what people on here suggest
-
GN Oblivion if you fancy a mainstream bat as I think they're very nice bats.
-
Go for a blue room mate quality blades and quality bloke
-
Got a redback? Any forum brand you don't have, recommend them all tbh :)
-
Well Colesy you should know by now i would not go mainstream good choice though i picked a few of them up very good indeed...
Blueroom yes like the concaving on there profile
Johan i have never bought a bat from a forum brand yet
-
It was a long-shot I know :)

Oh really, didn't know that, all the bluerooms i've seen reviewed look brill, so maybe they're worth a try as roco said!
-
He makes all profiles bud even invented his own tool for that prototype shape plus is good enough for mcullum kieswetter etc so good enough for me but hey it's your hard earned money good luck with search bud hope you end up with something great
-
Perhaps consider taking up the H4L offer which ends tonight.
If you have a Laver type budget, you could get a H4L and still have enough for another top bat.
-
I have already bought one bat well waiting to get it and pay for it (it is at wisden at the moment) just looking at another so this would be the other
-
I guess it comes down to what you will be happy with then. If you don't spend Laver type money, will there always be that niggling doubt that what you've gone for will be inferior?
-
blueroom new wave
and a h4l 666 monster :D
-
Newbery TT?
-
True but as i have pointed out Laver's are special but right now do not justify there price tag as i know they use the same willow as the people on here and i not willing to pay a extra 120 on exchange rate and stuff...
Best bat i have had off the forum was from asad a plain grade 1 ss and will go there again if i can not find something i can give my spec to and choose it in stead of it being chosen for me...

You getting a h4l 666 monster mate? My normal 666 feels great, at 2.9/10 with generous 31ish mm edges :) Would love to see what you get with the monster :)- got the branding on the side of mine, which I think is a very nice touch!
-
Are you opposed to the H4L option for some reason? I only ask because it is pretty unbeatable at the moment.
-
No mate had a look made a inquiry bud and will not buy a bat because it 25 quid cheaper
There many good bats and having a look at around 10 at the minute
-
Ok. Should just point out I'm not attached to H4l or anything.
-
my voodoo???
-
I will not be buying a bat if i do not know were it is made sorry
-
hazard a guess Dave.
-
How about a newbery cenkos bud on that army wage should be ok
-
I will not be buying a bat if i do not know were it is made sorry
That is the only reason I won't buy one either. The other bat-branders who have bats made on their behalf make out to not be allowed to say who makes them but we all know the answer. Seems the Black Cat is a big secret though.
-
I think it the worst kept secret on here about Black Cat's
-
come on people tell me what you think of the bats you have use and know not just on forum based say so
-
i didnt like the balance of my puma ballistic a few years back but loved how it felt in the hands and when it made connection with the ball ,
my opinion go with a saf or blueroom :)
-
The redback I had was really nice lots of wood plus nice pick up
the bulldogs I have had were good for the money
The talismans have fantastic middles
The ayrtek is sturdy plus goes nice
The blue room is unbelievable on the pick up and rebound with a ball bounced on it
-

A bit out there, but it might be worth seeing if Sam has any Lekkas left. He had some real beauties when I got mine from him. Good price too when you consider what they are.
I know the Mike situation rather rules him out right now, but if he comes good, and your budget is high, I'd see if he could find something similar to my new one. I have plenty of nice bats, but that one is a class above. Logic suggests it is on a par with certain other brands that would charge £400.
-
No mate all lekka's moved on! as i am no longer agenting! Ask kgm though hew had some decent looking blanks.. altho again who knows where from as indian made!
-

Its an awfully kept secret!

Dave,
I have a blueroom new wave @ 2-11, m&h distinction @ 3-1 in the custom company section. I also gave a kook ccx900 @ 2-8. Pick up on the blueroom is the best out of the 3 and has by far has the better response from tapping up from a mallet. @ £200 match ready the blueroom is excellent value. Hope this helps

News to me i think half the forum know i bet you know Sam as well
-
know what? bc? yeah i do!
-
and so do i
so here goes my thoughts
BLUEROOM one of the profile looks so good
SPYDER bat have herd very very good things about
H4L once again sound very good bats
-
I didn't think Spyder's were custom, thought they were just imports?
Dave, if I were you and I had money to buy a bat, I'd either go for tried and tested i.e. what's the best bat you've had, you may as well get another, or I'd go for something I'd not had before but had heard great things about.
Top of my current wish list would be a H4L or a SAF, since they are both British, both critically acclaimed, and both supporters of this forum
-
Spyder are not custom and do import it a bit of a whim but quite a few of my mates raved about them...
Ref were i normally get them made i no doubt will get another one of them before the season,
I just want something different which makes your forum claim more viable as i have not tried them before
-
Just seen the Spyder's on Espo's thread - they do look nice!
...but I still think it's good to support our sponsors!
-
Maybe i will but if there something better out there then i will get it forum or no forum.
May i wish you a happy new year bud
and to all have a safe and happy 2011

GN Oblivion if you fancy a mainstream bat as I think they're very nice bats.
I received by GN Oblivion today, very nice bats indeed!
-
Few suggestions from me;
Perhaps try MB Malik Bubber Sher Limited Edition? They are Asian but they're very good bats. I have three (two are basically for selling purposes) and the one I chose feels great in my hand. Here is the review of my bat if you havent seen it;
http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=7304.0
Another suggestion is Salix. Recently I bought Salix's factory second from Asad and so far I am failing to understand what is wrong with the bat and why it was labelled as Rogue as I can't find any defect nor Asad was able to find any. Anyways, haven't used it yet as I am knocking but seriously it flies off mallet and feels great in my hands.
These two suggestions are based on what I have and have felt.
From lookwise I am seeming to like Gray Nicolls Oblivion and maybe I might snap that soon.

You can buy the M&H Distinction that I have. It is 2.10is and has a pick-up lighter hand my 2.9 Harlequin.
-
The two bats I'd recommend because I've had a chance to use them are the lekka, which is a stonking piece of willow, uk made and James and Kevin will tell you who by, and the m&h S6 which might be even better and I had made for me by nick. Incredible pick up for such a low middle. Also got a nice h4l that looks and feels nice, but haven't used it yet so it seems unfair to comment.
-
Where do Black Cat get their bats made?
-
In the UK!
-
SAF perhaps? Have yet to see a bad word about them, let alone a bad review!
-
An Ayrtek bat plus Elite pads and gloves is the answer to this question!!!
-

Would second that, my bat is a beauty. At least, the front of it...nothing to do with Andy re: the back :) Had to be my marketing bat.. :(
Can't recommend SAF enough to be fair :)
