What's the difference between the xbow 2 players and the pro ?
there's £35 price difference not sure what the difference between the 2 bats thought which makes one more expensive than the other "
-
Think the players is a different profile than the pro as it says
"This is a total performance bat with a different profile to the other bats in the Xbow 2 range. The thinner shoulders and toe and extra large sweet spot combine to make the perfect bat. This bat is made and pressed with the professional player in mind. The bat carries Xbow2 Players Edition graphics"

I don't know but would give them a call if I were you as they have always been easy to chat to when I have called them up

Are they that good?

Are they that good?
Yes and they last a while too. When I have spoken to them I have always found them thoroughly good blokes and very helpful.
-
can get a laver for £280 notes !
not saying there better but can get any cricket bat you want close enough for £280 pounds
-
Good enough for Mr Bell...

I too, was thinking that they seemed rather pricey. However, they look very well made, and what Buzz has said attests the fact that the bats are quality. I wonder how they compare to any of the forum brands though? Anyone own one on here, as well as a Blue Room, Talisman/SAF/H4L etc..?
-
Good enough for Mr Bell...
he doesn't use hawk anymore , stopped using them a while back !
-
Are you sure, do you know what he uses now, then? I thought he was using a hawk stickered up as an Adidas.. :(
-
So who he using now?
-
I've got a Hawk and it pings beautifully - about 5 years old but has just had a refurb and still going strong! They are well pressed and are renowned to last ages - mine has a traditional profile and doesn't pick up very lightly compared to my H4L which at the same weight picks up very lightly. My Hawk is on here and is this one but the XBow is a bigger seller than my X10 with its larger profile:

i have heard from several sources he stopped using them a while back because hawk -adidas had disagreement with prices etc .

-
i heard that in the summer he was still using them !
Will ask when i go down hopefully in the next month !

Hawk will not tell you , they will say private and confidential ,
Adidas pay alot of money to hawk for not speaking about it and all the other things in the background , they just simply aren't aloud to discuss the matter or that would be a breach of contract !
And if adidas do find out that they have been talking about to to public or customers i believe they have rights to go court and sue , i may be wrong but that's why iv been told

hawk x10 pro one of the finests bats ive ever used
-
Love the look of the G10.

I have to say - I am a fan of the Hawk stuff - I like their new pads - similar to the new GN ones and the new gloves look similar to the SS ones, but with proper pittards palms. The bats have been written up here occasionally and I like them - but not every one does.
Which takes me to the new keeping gloves...

what do the keepers out there think - I like them - but my keeping resembles coco the clown with the symbols!!
-
def the same ones as SS....so i am not sure what u mean when u say "the new gloves look similar to the SS ones, but with proper pittards palms"
it is the same...as for the keeping gloves, it is the same as the SS Player Edition...
even the batting pads look the same as SS ones....
-
i have the ss version of those glopes and everything about them is awesome, except the smell, think its the dye!
-
Same here, top gloves. Haven't smelt mine though Sam ;)

They are identical bar the logo
-
look nice same as SS but i have to have my webbing as a T piece on all my keeping gloves
-
johan thought you had white/blue?
I have the above and they smelll but are very comfy!
-
Oh yeah, they are practically the same, are they not? :S Same design, just a different pattern and colour scheme... :)
-
yeah its the all over die that cause the smell i think, so the above ones really stink, your may a bit though!
-
Ohh. I will have a smell and report back if I have nothing to do haha! ;)

Sadly I don't need a bat currently, however looking at their softs they look very good for the money. I can't believe they're so close to me, I'll have to take a trip there and try them out.
-
I like the softs a lot. Still waiting for my SAF's to come through
-
Took a short trip to Hawk the other day and I was thoroughly impressed with their kit. As soon as I went in there I was greeted nicely and I had a nice look around their small showroom at all of their kit. I solely went in there to look at their softs but I couldn't take my hands or my eyes off of their bats.
After looking and feeling the bats I thought the Xbow2 was their best range and their top of the range bats deserve their price tags. I picked up a bat that was made for a certain pro that they were showcasing off and it was beautiful, sadly I didn't have enough money to purchase it as it was amazing. The G10 bat they had in was huge and went like a rocket, sadly it wasn't as nice visusally as the others and had been used a fair bit due to them letting it out for people to have a play(now I regret not having a proper play with it). The X10 bats were also nice, but just not to my liking however a couple of guys at my club have an X10 and they love it and they surely go! I would definately recommend Hawk bats to anyone and especially if you live within travelling distance I would go down and try out their bats even if you aren't looking to buy.
Anyway, I had a look around their softs on the website and I was pretty certain what I was going in for which was the X10 pro gloves which won 'Glove of the year 2010' by the Wisden Cricketer Magazine and the Xbow pads. After trying both on I didn't even bother trying their other stuff on as they felt superb and I didn't want to tempt myself into spending any more money!
The pads are very light and comfortable at 655kg per pad compared to my GM Duellist 909 pads which are 875kg. I chose these over the X10 Pro pads because of the padding(and price) as I was looking for something lightweight and without the extra calf padding that most pads seem to have now which add extra weight and also feel bulkier.
I had been looking all over different websites and different companies to find some that I like and little did I know that the closest company to me made some pads that I was exactly looking for.
The Gloves come with pittard palms which make them very comfortable, they feel very light weight and even though the protection on them is superb they don't feel bukly and feel superb on as well and also very well made. I've had a problem with some gloves fitting correctly as sometimes they feel big, but at Hawk they offer a small mens size which I tried on after trying the regular mens size and they fit just right which I've never had from a batting glove before. It's easy to see why they won the best glove as they are superb and I can't recommend the gloves or pads enough.

But the gloves have got COLOURS ON THEM PEPS! COOLOURRSSS! I'm a fan of the traditional plain white personally! Although it's the diamond bits I have more of an issue with to be fair, I just don't get it! Haha
-
Yeah i do like a plainer glove, however they arent as colourful and outragous as lots of gloves out there!
-
Yeah very true that mate!
-
The pads were £45.00 and the gloves were a little steeper at £50.
-
good price for the pads!
-
any particular reason you went for these rather than the top of the range pads - or was it just price?
-
No real reason to be honest, just to do with what I was looking for in batting pads.
Good protection, Lightweight, Not Bulky. I just don't like the feel of bulkier pads and I haven't got on with pads that have the extra calf protection as I always feel as though I need to push them outwards. It wasn't the price that attracted me to them(however they are very good for the money) but how they fitted etc.. I had been searching for a fair while for pads like these went and tried them on and they were brilliant.
I didn't try the X10 Pro pads on, but they looked just as good as they were the more of the classic fit with the extra calf protection etc... However that style of pad is just not for me but the price for a pad of that quality was also very good at £65.
