Title: customBATS Website
Post by: Tom on May 21, 2008, 05:35:39 PM
I'm in the process of updating this site, we'll have reviews on custom made bats hopefully submitted by members such as yourselves along with a UK and/or World map hopefully detailing all of the boutique hand crafting batmakers in the World with a small description and prices.

Are there any features or articles that any of you wouldd like to be included on this website?

details on how to order/contact details for the bat maker

cheeky request but in return for the advertising the forum is likely to give these custom companies, try and arrange a member discount? Even if it's only 5% or something

Gallery section - forum members could submit pics of their custom made bats to admin to put up on the website

Ideally I think it should be kept to just Custom and small Handmaking firms.

The larger ones who offer a custom service e.g GN I'm not 100% if they'll feature as they get enough exposure from sponsorship. The aim is to open purchaser's eyes up to small companies such as Fusion, CE, Redback and Warsop.

To carry on from this I just want to suggest something if you get some sort of discount I think you should specify that only people with a certain amount of posts or good feedback will get it

Got to agree with you their Tom, its hard enough as it is for a small batmaking company to break into the market.

I know from myself since contributing to the forums that i never dreamt of owning a bat from a small or unknown brand but now i wouldn't buy anything else, i may make my own bats but i still in the future want to buy a bat from Gary at Redback just from all the positive things said regarding them plus he's a top bloke.

An excellent idea Tom has come up with is the locations of each batmaker, i know its a commonly asked question and having that information readily available would aid and answer many a question in the future.

The discount idea is a good one, i am looking to sell the next few bats for around £100, which i could make it an Custombats offer only.

Yeah that would be great Chris!!
Tom you could design a world map and when you scroll over a certain place where the batmaker is situated it could come up with details etc.
PS. Loving the discount idea ;D

The discount thing is a great Idea.

I mean Companies like Fusion Laver and Redback get overshadowed by large companies like puma because people do not the quality of the smaller companies.

maybe the people with over 100 posts on this forum get 5 or so % off all Fusion or Redback or maybe even laver products as long as we advertise them.

That sounds like a win win, the companies get advertisement and the players get cheaper better gear.

What does everybody think?

are u waiting for the logo? since the top of the forum JUST says 'FORUM' !!??

is there a thread already on this - maybe i missed it?

ps. I luv the games collections !!! more game, more games! all in one place.. brilliant idea

pps. luv richies idea of the map thing.. but simpler idea is just to show the Areas these smaller custom places are?

Highlighting Podshavers (make their own bats etc) would be good too? entrepeneurs breaking into bat making etc?

The map thing was my idea first  :P

Also it should say "CustomBATS Forum" at the top on a black/dark grey background.

I think the idea of the map would be excellent along with addresses and other contact deals. You could maybe also include a feature which allows members who own a custom bat to receive e-mails with questions about the brand as often people have questions that they don't feel comfortable asking the batmaker but owners would be able to answer for them
