This is my second attempt at making a bat and has been made for a team mate at my my club, he is a number 5 batsman (comes in after me, usually to pick up the pieces :( ).
He is an aggresive batsman and bats outside leg stump, steps into line. His previous bat was a 2.11lb GN Nitro but split in the toe at the end of the season and I somehow managed to persuade him to buy a bat from me!
Specs are:
Grade - G1
Weight - 2.11lb
Edges - 29mm (at widest point)
Middle - Low to middle (wanted a long middle similar to the Nitro)
Pickup - 7/10 (bit bottom heavy due to the low middle)
Handle - Thin, round handle
Grips - 1 combi
Appearance - 12 dead straight grains, 2 heartwood on outside edge, couple of pin-knots.
Drop the bat off to him last night and he seemed very happy, didn't actually believe I made it! haha
Feedback would be much appreciated
Dan

Wow good stuff mate looks beautifully finished
-
VERY impressive mate. Love the profiling and finish on the back! :) A top effort mate, look forward to seeing more of your work!
-
I think that looks great - love the shape and you have finished it off well.
You got hold of a pretty good cleft there too.
-
Finished to a rare standard that. The sheen on the 3/4 angle pic is something very few makers bother with achieving. Indeed I can only think of one maker who I know will get them to that stage.
-
excellent looking bat- you've got to get a big old gorilla on your labels though mate ;)
-
Yeah cheers Dave, its all done by hand so finishing takes the longest but feel its worth it in the end :)
Thanks Johan yeah there will be a few more up in the next month or so, got my own to make and have 2 others
Yeah finally found a quality reliable supplier of clefts!!

Yeah I know bit boring right?? haha Im in the middle of designing new stickers, these were just something I got made up at the local printers whose software was pretty limited so stuck with 10 sets of these! (8 to go) :(

Its a home made buffing compound used with a loose leaf buffing wheel then a lot of elbow grease using a lint free cloth :)

Looks fantastic as others have said and the finish is right up there - definite talent you have there. Hats off!
-
Loving that profile! Gotta agree with the other comments - the finish looks fantastic!

That's an absolute beauty. How much do you charge for them? I'm sure you could get a few orders off here!

very nice job mate, looks beautiful. what tool do you use for concaving ??
-
Its a Kunz convex spokeshave, great tool
-
Nice job there! Very meaty and you shaped the spine really well.
Might just be the pictures, but the face looks a bit dry. Did you oil it before slapping that scuff sheet on?

I think its just the lighting, I don't oil the bats I leave that down to who ever buys it. There is no scuff sheet on it at the moment just edging tape, I have supplied a scuff sheet so he can apply it himself after oiling/waxing
