Title: Usman Khawaja
Post by: espocrespo on January 19, 2011, 05:56:27 PM
According to a certain Derbyshire player I know Usman Khawaja has signed as there overseas player for next season, top signing I reckon, I remember watching him play there last season for Australia.

You heard it hear first

I assume it's all signed and sealed If not I will remove the thread

Tip top signing, if it's all gone through I reckon. Good for him too, Hussey learnt his trade here, so..bodes well I guess. :) And good for Derbyshire, as well (ofc).

yeah, that was announced the other day.

not heard much of him but his stats are pretty good, good addition to a poor worcs attack anyway.

good player

But I really think the county should be penalised for helping an up and coming Aussie player!!!

Espo, who do you know at Derbys?

I think we're sponsoring 2 or 3 of their players next season. So will ask around.

he used to pro up in scotland for grange, had some serious gas back then but that was a good 7-8 seasons ago, not the worst bat either.

He pro'd for a team in my league a couple of seasons ago and broke the batting records. Was a class player, and easily the best batsmen I have ever played against.

In fact there are a couple of players who used to play in my league now playing for Derbyshire. Chesney Hughes used to play for Fleetwood as an amateur and Wayne Madsen used to pro for us.

Derbyshire, really are moving away from the team that finished bottom of the league every season.

I heard this yesterday also from one of the guys at Derbyshire, however I think it's only for the first half of the season, and Derbyshire now have a fair bit of money in the board room by the latest member of the commitee, which is purely for signing players so watch this space.

The plan is that Derbyshire will bring in one overseas player for the start of the new campaign, which begins on April 8, and that he will stay until the end of the Twenty20 group stages. The second will arrive in time for the start of the Twenty20s and then stay for the remainder of the season.

he's only playing a bit of hit and giggle though isn't he?
i know it's never going to happen, but english counties should be putting more of their resources into producing players who could feasibly play for England one day, not give other countries a leg up.

Yeah rumours down at Derbyshire are that Graeme Smith will take over from Usman Khawaja but that's not been confirmed as of yet.

Saj is playing the 20/20's his economy rate for the tournament so far is 14 runs per over.

Poor Ferguson was through his shot before the ball was half way down the track, must have been expecting more heat than 126kph..........worst bowler i've ever seen play for WA.......cant see an invitation next year

economy must have improved in the last game in QLD and Tas, prior to that it was 14 after the first 4 games.  AB was taking the piss in commentary...
