Title: GN E41
Post by: uknsaunders on January 24, 2011, 10:32:23 PM
Thought I'd setup a separate thread for this mystery bat. 41mm edges, revolutionary manufacturing technique? I'm curious, does anyone have anymore info?

Love the profile on these. The stickers are really nice as well....minimal secondary stickers.

However, no way I am paying £400+ for this bat......

Can any of our Aussie forum members answer this question - Why do bats cost so much in Australia?

I do not buy this excuse of importing and exchange rates.....

Willow gets exported to India as well, but none of the Indian bat makers sell bats for £400.....

Its simple - the Aussie bats are priced for the Aussie Market and what the average punter there earns and is willing to spend on a cricket bat.

2 yrs ago the Exchange rate was around 1.9/2 Aud to the Pound. Now it's down at 1.5/6. They don't set their prices against what the Uk are paying. The AUD prices will stay the same but to us Brits it will appear more.

if the bats were priced as per the market, then why do so many Aussie guys end up buying bats in the UK or from India?

Last season, a Aussie law student (with help from his other Aussie mates) took back with him 15 SPS Newbery bats from Lukey's and claimed to recover his one way air fair?

The pund has depreciated against the Indian Rupee as well, but you still do not find a £400 bat being made and supplied by SS or SG or others

being in Aus i would like to know the answer to that. some bats that our sports stores sell look like absolute rubbish to the quality i see on here yet pay an absolute arm and a leg for them still

1. Same happens in the Uk, we import from india and Aus. It's not on a massive scale though.

2. Indian prices have risen. A G1 used to be £150 now they're up at £200. Their average wage and overheads dictated the original price - which has risen as the exchange rate has changed. Retailer margins are also smaller in india keeping prices down

australian bats are over priced because they can be.
People are willing to pay $700 AUD for a top of the range kook when you can buy a bat of better quality for 350 from england.
