in Oz watching ODI7, there is heaps of stump cam footage which interestingly shows Trotts "Icon" has no scalloping at all and is therefore clearly not an Icon as the stickers would suggest. Is it a GM or something else altogether? Anybody from the same county club know?
-
Trotts bat is a gm but not an icon shape more like a very big apex long low middle but really light
-
Yeah i heard a lot of the pros are loving the flare and flare + this year. I am having a meeting with GM next week i will ask them a few questions.
-
Must make Watson happy as the flare is his shape he gave to gm to copy and they liked it that much they made a range around it
-
from what I could see on the close ups, my thoughts were that it is 'flareish' in shape. Definitely a GM then guys? did they show you any of his bats when you visited GM factory?
-
Yes we picked up and looked at his bats for the ashes seemed to have a lower middle than the flare but was a while ago
-
The Trott bat we picked up was not an Icon profile, or even close! ;)
Great bat it was though! In hindsight, maybe i could have caused a distraction at the other end of the workshop, and whilst everyone is over there, I would have been free to slip it up my jumper!!! Damn my lack of planning!!!
-
Next time pete next time we will plan better that pallet of pro clefts up the corner couldve fit nice in my car
-
Even better....next time we willl both roll out at the factory in transit vans.
They may wonder how come we are both walking around the factory tour pulling a pallet truck though!! ;)
-
would habe thought you would have had jonntys for your collection :p
-
Maybe you did sneak one out.
Is that the new shape bat from SAF ;)
-
Would it suprise anyone if its a scat hes using
-
Yes as we saw his bats ready to go out so would surprise me

It wouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility!
Pro players get lots of gear from their sponsors. And they have been known to sell the sponsored bats to fund some custom bats!! And we all love trying out different custom bats, so why should the pro batsmen be any different!?
Saying this, the GM 'Icon' did look and feel like an absolute stunner! :o

And copying the Trott profile would be fine. But due to the cleft quality and density, Trotts bat probably weighed around 2'8 and was very chunky. Whereas a copy using a 'normal' cleft will mean that you end with a bat weighing more like 2'14!! So alas, the Tortt cleft only comes along to a lower volume batmaker very occasionally! :(
So if I did sneak one out, I'd just have to keep it myself! ;)

so did Trotts bat look like a flare or Apex or was it something different?
-
I think what has been concluded is that it wasn't an Icon.
I think they thought it wasn't really a flare, more an apex with a lowish long middle, seeing as he is a predominantly front-foot player. Doubt it would have been a luna.
I think it is more a custom shape for him, as he is a pro, not obligated to use the models of the brands' bats, just the Stickers I think.
