Title: V Sports Custom Made
Post by: 19reading87 on February 12, 2011, 04:05:20 PM
Afternoon gents!!

I recently thought about getting a 2nd bat to have in my kit bag but not wanting to spend a fortune on one.

I decided to take a trip to the boys at V sports a couple of weeks ago as it's only 10miles from me and I know them well. I went over a couple of weeks ago with a clear mind, I had a rough price I wanted to spend and was open to any bat make in the shop. I decided to have a chat with Rich and went out to the work shop and went through numerous amounts of part made clefts (Rich makes all V sports bats by hand).

I eventually chose to have a very traditional shapped bat which I think has faded in recent years with big edges etc... coming more and more popular.

The bats specs :

2lb 8oz
25mm edges
slight oval handle
12 Grains

The middle on the bat is huge so I am hoping to find that on a regular basis  ;) FINGERS CROSSED

I collected the bat this morning payed £120 for the it which I think is an absolute bargain. The reason for the bat being so low is the fact there are a couple of pin knots on the back of the bat but these will not affect performance at all.

I can't recommend V Sports enough and will be willing to answer any questions asked about them.

Enjoy the pics :)

looks big for the weight! big edges are over-rated if you ask me!

Its all about the middle after all!

Their stickers have improved since I went in. I see they've moved, judging from the picture on their site it's much bigger than it was, did you go to the old one? Absolutely tiny, I'm glad they've relocated, quality bunch of guys, looks like a cracking buy for £120 as well!

I agree that it is a cracking buy for £120. Quite a competitor for Solitaire here I reckon. :) - Hope it serves you well Mark!

Lovely looking bat for the money, presuming they have a belt sander you think they'd have made a neater job of trimming the facing though.

is £120 the normal price, as the website says £150? Reds said the pin knots led to the discount...

This is the Gem style bat which is why it cost me £120. I just asked for the Vulcan stickers on it as they are gorgeous and Rich was happy to put them on for me. Should have made that clearer - sorry dudes.

I personally hate the anti scuff directly level with the toe as it always lifts. This is the perfect finish in terms of level/neatness for me. :)

I agree with that one, you're right mate. I acquired a Salix this week, and the anti-scuff is lifting from the toe. I tried tape near it but it looks horrid, will just see how long it lasts! :|

This would be my 2nd bat but I have decided I want something heavier. It is unused and I have given it around an hours knocking in too.

Yes he did - and it's going very well for one of the chaps in our first team - 93* I think was his last knock.

Really nice looking bat, really nice pick up.
