Bats / Laminate Bat
« Last post by drmimran on July 31, 2025, 08:09:43 PM »Where can I buy the best laminate bat from? Im not asking because I want to cheat or anything but bats are too bloody expensive now and Im thinking its better to spend £250 on a low grade laminate that will ping as well as a £5-600 G1 EW bat

Gray Nicolls / Re: Changing bats forever
« Last post by jimmy23 on July 21, 2025, 07:47:44 PM »I’ve got at uk market Neocore
It doesn’t pick up that light to be honest, 2.14 and picks up like it.
I’ve even tried taking a bit of weight off the toe but still not great now.
Tried one in Talent cricket and the pick up was 3 or 4 oz lighter than the scale.
It sounds terrible with the hollow sound when using it against the bowling machine balls.
Maybe I got a bad one of the bunch 🫤

in Australia are imported, made in India, they are a full profile with a longer blade length & a short, thick 5 cork handle, thin top edge but a much bigger middle with big sloping shoulders, a thick toe, a front front driver's bat, right up to when you hit where the internal core starts, that's where performance drops off, the bat sound is even hollow & vibration is noticeable, still waiting for this bat to compress with more use, not sure how sales will go here, serious collectors will buy them, no doubt.

Bat Care / Re: Help with scuff sheet not sticking
« Last post by brokenbat on July 08, 2025, 03:45:09 AM »I know I know - this has been discussed before. But does anyone have any other tips for getting a scuff sheet (Gray Nic Fibretec) to stick better?
I am helping refurb. an old bat. I've sanded it back with 240 grit sandpaper and the Fibretec just won't stick to it. Never had this problem before. Tried heating it up prior to adhering and still no cigar.
Any thoughts?
If the issue isn't oil/wax, then it might just be a bad sheet. Sometimes there are gaps between the scuff sheet and the glossy sheet, and the glue can dry out slightly.

Also looks like Charlie French are no longer trading either which I don’t recall being mentioned!
Wasn’t aware Nixon was no longer trading. Out of interest, did you hear this from the horses mouth?
