Gray Nicolls E41 1000 LE
« on: August 07, 2011, 05:09:27 AM »

I went into GCCC today to grab some new pads and a new bag. They didn't have all their gear in yet, but they had most of the Kook and GN gear and after trying some pads on, I decided on the Gray Nicolls E41 1000 LE's which cost me $160.

The pads are super comfy and light (although not as light as the legends, but they are $40 cheaper) and they feel like they will offer great protection, plus they have a wider side foam section which is nice. They also look good/symetrical when I have them on, which is something I like. Another part I like is that there is only 1 GN logo on the from of the pad, which is near the bottom, other than that it is all clear. Look forward to using them come pre-season nets/Winter cricket finals. The Legends were a new design (only took them 2 years to bring out a newer design) were also very nice, a tad lighter and are more slim fitting, but that's not worth paying an extra $40-$50.

These look very similar to the UK Legends, but these have a cane front rather than the Legends foam front, but the knee design is the same.

See some similarities to the old test opener pads.

Do look a nice set of pads sure they will serve you well

I could tell that the only real difference between the two pads (Aus e41's and the Aus Legends) were that the Legends were a tad lighter and a bit more slim fitting. The bloke in the shop even said to me that the e41's are just as good as the Legends, but they are much cheaper and said he knew he was talking himself out of some money, but he said that's what he honestly thought. I'm wrapped with them, now I'm chaning my GM bag to the GN legend bag as the GM one was more than I thought, but I'm keen on the the Legend one as it is a stand up bag, but you can also lay it down, whereas the GM is a lay down bag which you can stand up.
