Finished off my season with a friendly win today.

We bowled first and held them to 160. I let through 18 byes despite keeping as well as I have all year on a deck with a lot of variable bounce. 12 of them were thanks to no balls which I wouldn’t have got anywhere near as they were also wide. Everyone got a bowl, and I even managed a run out after one was hit down behind square on the leg side and I picked up and launched to the bowlers end. We have a club umpire who does it for us on a Sunday and after their opener was given out (bang infront) their skipper walked on the pitch to enquire about why it was given 🤦🏻‍♂️

Then batted 3 and was in after 2 overs. Me and our 14 year old opener then put on 125, with him getting 60 and me falling just short of my 50. We chased it with a few overs to go

Bit of a weird atmosphere when I was batting, as their grown man skipper decided to start giving chat to our 14yo because he kept sweeping his son over the leg side. The same son who could only have been 13 then gave me a send off when I got out and refused to shake hands with any of us at the end. His dad also came and shook my hand when I got out and told me my knock was much better than our 14yo’s as he “had no idea where he was hitting it”

Seemed very unnecessary for a friendly! The season ended with 700 runs in 30 games for myself which I’m happy about. Just a shame our first team couldn’t win in the EAPL play-off final yesterday, we had a very good day out with about 14 hours of drinking!

Such a shame that the bad behavior is spreading so much into friendly cricket
