Is this a defect, or bad luck...
« on: July 04, 2011, 05:25:13 PM »

Hi. Anyone able to offer an opinion on this Pic below. Blocked out a new-ish ball yorker at the weekend. Had used the bat in approx 6 games, 5 net sessions, had double the advised knock in period.

Is it just the way things go or is it a defect that should be returned to manufacturer?

Any advise welcome...

Just very very bad luck I'm afraid. Depending on how high the crack has gone up the blade, it could be perfectly repairable though.

Looks fairly nasty as the crack has gone through the whole width of the toe. Eventually it will work it's way up the bat and a large chunk of your bat will go missing IMO!

Bad luck. But some companies may repair/replace it. I would've done.

Bad luck, but even though it isn't defective some manufacturers may still be prepared to repair or replace this for you.

No harm in asking. What bat is it?

Its a redback, am gutted as it went like a dream. The cracks gone through to the back, about 2cms up.

Think the trauma of seeing it damaged got me out 2 balls later using someone else's bat...thats my excuse anyway!!

Hmmm bad week for redback bats! My Paradox has gone pretty much identically to that, the Surefire I sold has gone in the toe this week, plus the other topic a few days back with another gone in the toe..

Are any of these toe failures repairable? They're not simple cracks, the wood is pretty much pulverised to a depth of a 1cm plus...

Has Gary been contacted about them?
