should i be worried?
« on: October 18, 2011, 03:22:30 PM »

basically i was in the nets and someone had a really hard ball, hit a normal drive and this happened:

the bat has anti scuff on, been oiled properly, knocked in for 2 hours and been used for half a season with no cracks.
So why has it discoloured?

Im lost, You've hit a drive off a hard ball and your bat has changed colour? Which bit has changed? The edge or the big square patch below it?

I'd say it's that white patch on the bat

Yes, think it was a really poor quality ball, caused massive vibrations when I hit it. Can you not see the pictures? The bit that's changed colour is that big white bit that goes from the middle to the right handers outside edge.

I would recommend 8 coats of oil to match the colours. Things like this can really ruin the aesthetics of a blade which causes a loss in a players' ability.

I can see it. How big was the ball, that goes half way across the bat.

  • Clear your mind, stay still and watch the ball

have you subsequently removed the scuff sheet from the bat?
that mark looks more like someone has take a bit of sand paper to the blade of the bat.

oh and the answer to the question is in the subject line is "no"

Cheers for all the responses, seems like I was getting worried over nothing. I have nets tommorow so I will see if anything different happens when the ball hits the white patches.
