No it wasn't Hawk and thats the last comment on the supplier :)
Here is the finished bat, unless after i use it i feel that it should be altered!!
It is smack on 3pound finished (what i wanted) unless i put on a clear face, undecided at the moment.
Binding added and Gripped and shoe goo to the toe 2 coats of linseed oil and 2 hours of knocking
I left the ovaled handle slightly larger at the bottom so only 1 grip needed with no loss of feel,it just felt nice to me.
Overall happy with the outcome, and it feels nice and responsive off the mallet
I have put on the fifty pences everyone seems to do it,a good guage for size i suppose
Not the best of pics, but as good as my old camera will allow.

Great stuff fella. Looks like a top effort and I hope it plays beautifully for you. There will be a nice feeling of accomplishment walking out with a vat you made for yourself :)

this looks like a complete beast!
Certainly you need to think about the BES measuring system for those edges....

Very nice effort. It does appear as though you've oiled very close to the splice.

Looks great, massive, but great!
Well done, I've got a couple in the shed I need to take some pics of and get them up on here.

Thanks

After applying the clear face and edging strips, i used this bat in 2 games (33no and 9no),the bat is near enought the same weight as my match bat but with such a low middle i found i was too slow to the ball,so decided to remove a bit of weight and raise the middle a bit,so is this the finished bat?? I hope so !!here's some pics as it is now

Hand and eye co-ordination!!lol
There is no magic its just wood at the end of the day,no matter what tools you use,you just have to get the wood to the shape that you want,be it draw knives spoke shaves travishers planes sanders etc.
