Ayrtek: Review of Bat and Service!
« on: August 05, 2011, 11:40:31 AM »

Hi Guys, just received my Ayrtek Elite bat from Tom. I thought I would do a review and use the template that won me the review competition back in 2008. Here it goes...

Service Received

I had been in contact with Tom about his kit and had settled on Kookaburra softs and then a bat from him later in the month. But then Wednesday night, at nets, I sold my Joker and then the handle on my Talisman snapped! I tweeted Tom straight away saying I needed a bat. And although he was out on the town, he still replied and said he would get pictures to me in the morning. I got pictures of 5 bats from Tom, all very nice looking bits of willow. After a lot of deliberation and numerous email being quickly responded to by Tom about pick up, concaving, bows. I decided on #0. He sent it out straight away via UPS and it arrived today, ready for the weekend.

Tech Specs

- 2lbs 8oz (May be fraction more with a spiral, but feels good so I won't so I won't weigh it)
- 8 fairly even and straight grains, hint of heartwood on inside edge
- Mild concaving on the back
- Decent sized edges for the weight

Performance

Have only knocked a ball up on it and it feels nice, very responsive. Will get a mallet on it when I get one!

Looks

I has 8 straight grains with a bit of heart wood, there is a bit if waviness on the bottom inside edge. However, Tom grades on performance so I'm not worried about that!

General Feel

The bat picks up very well and sits nicely in the hands, a ball feels very nice of the middle.

Good Points

*Service I received (Thanks Tom)
*Pick Up
*Feel

Bad Points

*None!

I also got a short sleeve pullover from Tom which is very nice. I have taken it off since trying it on for size!

Tom is great to deal with and the products he sells live up to this quality! Very pleased with the deal!

Here are the pictures, enjoy!

Looks like a top notch stick you've got there Liam!

I was going to look at an Ayrtek and M&H original when my current bat breaks as I like supporting local companies, but I think the Ayrtek is going to be out of my price range :(

Looks VERY nice. The profile looks very similar to the Willostix Anaconda which a team mate of mine has.

I really like the shape of those bats, and for 2lb 8oz, it seems to have a lot of wood behind it!

Good review, and great service Ayrtek!

Congrats on the 59 with it today mate! :)

Weight wise it will be 2.9 with a spiral as the stick weights are with a chevron that is a bit lighter as they are thinner.

Price wise were happy to look after forum members so if u catch us on a good day u might land urself a deal

My puma gloves have a whole in the thumb from all the batting I've done! it would be stupid not to get matching gloves now! I will have some off you when I get some more money in.

I took that 0 sticker of the face and put it under the grip! A good omen!

What did you get with the Boom Boom then?

Also, because this bat is lighter, I can now play of the back foot through the offside well! More cuts and drives than pulls today!
