Northants Premier league
« on: August 25, 2011, 10:58:28 AM »

Does anyone play in the northants prem? Been in discussion with a team mate who plays with us on a sunday whos in the prem. Thinks i should make the move. Currently in div 4 ( alot lower than we should be due to struggling to put a side together most weeks) anybody played in it? Just want a different view point from my team mate as he wants me to play so obviously gonna talk it up.

thanks

Got any idea where your thinking of going to mate?

stoneyfielder on here is from northants, he plays for stony stratford and has been playing in there firsts abit this season by the sounds of it, so would be a good person to speak to.

I went from div 6 to div 3 this year, havent found a massive jump at-all to be honest, still in top 10 runscorers in the league and feel like i should have scored alot more. I can imagine if i went much higher the flaws in my technique would be found out more regularly though, so need to work on my game abit before i make another step up.

I suppose most prem clubs have a 2nd team in divs 2,3 or 4 so if you did struggle or not enjoy it as much you could drop down for abit...

I'd say go for it!

Nothing ventured, nothing gained, you can always go back.

Although Div.4 to a Premier league is a huge leap.

In Surrey the leap from Div 4 to Prem is massive - what I would do is go along to their winter nets to see if you think you have a chance of playing or not - if you do go for it - you should push yourself when you get the chance.

Possible rushden, they are 2nd bottom ATM but hopefully will drat up. The 2nds are in diiv 3 where we played last year. Technically I've faced 80 and been ok although not since 2006. Would say I've found my Game alot since then. It's only a thought ATM but thinking I'd like to find out what it like at the best level I can play

We beat there 2's on Saturday :) The majority of them seemed like a good bunch.

They're 1's have got Burton Latimer on saturday so that could be a very big game in terms of deciding whether they stay up...

Do you think your lot will hold onto 2nd spot in Div 4?

Should do. We have had a lot of issues getting a team out for the past 4 weeks so slipped back a bit but should be ok. Yeah they aren't too bad. 2nd team umpires a idiot but the guys are ok.

Might end up playing against you next season then! although i will be missing some due to uni.

I know where your coming from about that ump! Very fast at making his decisions!

I played a couple games in it a couple years ago. Good split between the top 3/4 teams and the rest of the league, if you play with or against any of them you will improve quickly as they have some very good players. Id go for it, regret not sticking with it personally.

I'v played in the NCL perm for about 15 years, its a decent standard. I was captain for ON first for 3 years, before moving to Brixworth this year.

If you play in NCL div 4, and don't score 1000s runs a season you will struggle in the perm, in honesty you need to be a real star in that standard to play (compete?!) in the prem. ON's 3rd team play in the 3/4th division, and none of those player would cut it in the prem.

How old are you, if your young and getting better than it might be easier to step up, too.

Rushden struggle to get a consistent team year from year, and like a few clubs at the bottom end they rely on OSP/Pro to keep them in the perm, they might well go down this year.

But like has been said already, they have a second team etc, so you can always play in that.

Come to Brixworth if your looking for a club, we're (No Swearing Please) Ace! ;-)

Well im on 1500 plus for all comp s. About 600 for sat. Have missed 3 games plus had 4 called off so I'm doing ok. I just want to challenge myself a bit more. I reckon I'll go down the net option then see how I get on.
