@ Cover drive.  First, let me repeat I play recreational cricket for fun---the village "last XI". I grew up playing baseball so sometimes good things happen, but often bad things happen. I do bowl too, offspin.  I did a Master's degree at Cambridge (started 87 finished 89)  and played for fun (MCR last XI) there and just really loved it. Marrying a West Indian with lots of relatives helped me keep up with it.
I think this is one of the great things about cricket, it is a game, like golf, that people can enjoy at many different levels of skill. This is not possible in baseball since endless fielding errors would turn a game into a joke. Hence, softball has become the recreational sport.

Latest post: In case anyone is wondering, I edited and deleted a bunch of stuff. Stuff like a picture of myself, my son, and some info. I'm fine with my initial sharing, but those who were interested have seen it and I prefer not to leave personal stuff just floating out there in cyberspace.

i had friends at mercersburg. I was also at a school not to far away, but we had a proper cricket league with a number of schools participating. hopefully the game gets a lot more traction within the American school system
