BOOM BOOM Bats
« on: September 17, 2011, 10:44:03 PM »

I’ve seen some BOOM BOOM bats in forum posts before and just wondering if I can get views from those that currently own or have used these in the past?

I used a plain bat earlier in the season just for some throw downs and I was told it was a BOOM BOOM that didn’t quite make the grade (hence no stickers). It felt great.

Do you know what they meant by "did not make the grade"?  I would guess that if it didn't make a particular grade, it would have been downgraded to another Boom Boom, but surprising that any bats would be rejected altogether ... I think they have 3 grades in each model

I have a Signature 130, bottom of the range model. For the price £150 it is very good vfm but no-where near as good as my Ayrtek or GM Purist II. I get on very well with it as it is very well balanced and has a really nice pick-up to it. Performance wise it is not amazing but still good enough for me.

I didn't think to ask what not making the grade means. It looked like a decent bat so it's unlikely it was cosmetic. I can only assume it was made for a pro who didn't like it?

Thanks for the input Colesy, it seems you feel the bottom of the range model are about Par, which is what I'd expect.

Don't own on myself but two of our colts bought them on a trip to Pakistan and muggins got landed with knocking them in and getting them ready to use.  I have to say, I was no great fan of the decals myself, thinking they looked a bit cheap and tacky, but the quality of the bats was not at all bat.  One was the G3 model, and it played as you would expect a G3 to - slightly hard feeling but getting decent force through the ball, whilst the G3 (I think Signature range) was a gem - very soft feeling off the face but he ball flew, with eleven good grains.  The only flaw I'd have picked was that the grains went off the side of the face at both sides of the bat, which might make it prone to split.
