Cleaning up one of my bats and I'm halfway through. However I've got some problems:-
1. Big surface crack in the middle that's taken a little of the surface off
2. Left over fibre tape gunk at the bottom of the bat
3. Some glue/dents at the top
4. Wondering how to finish it off, wax/fine sanding?
1. Either sand it out or dont. Maybe spread a bit of wood glue over it for stability. Unless the crack is deep, don't be too worried.
2. As said, white spirit/any solvent that works.
3. Solvent on glue. Try sanding dents if you want, but probably not worth the trouble.
4. Continue sanding until you are happy with the finish. A really fine finish although nice, is pretty pointless. Thin coat on oil if you think it necessary. Also check knocking in if you have sanded much from the face.
