My £50 JJB Kookaburra Rogue...

OK - I was sweating on a bat arriving and thought this was a no loose deal as I can always take the bat back, so I ordered a £50 rogue from JJB sports - not someting I would usually consider, but what the heck.

so what arrived - a bit of a monster - a really large bit of wood, only 2lbs9oz with a really good pick up and some interesting grains!!

On the plus side I have tried the mallet and was really surprised, the bat goes really well.
I am not sure it will win any beauty pageant's though...

Cant grumble for £50 really, quite a nice profile too.

Very tempted to buy a sports direct special myself for next season!

Finally I managed to get this bat to the barn last night to test it.
Firstly - it picks up increadible well (in fact too well - I like something a bit heavier)
Secondly - when you middle the ball it does go, but it makes a horrific sound like the bat is broken - when it clearly isn't. I think it will be interesting to try this with a cricket ball, rather than the bowling machine.

so all in - it is a £50 bat - I don't think it will be a massive bargain - but it is well made and finished and my co-tester seemed to think it went ok too!

it is suppoesed to come knocked in and I am using it with a bowling machine so those balls wont damage the blade - but that is largely irrelevent - it is a semi disposable net/training bat and I am not paying someone/wasting my time knocking this in.

Yes, your co-tester can vouch for the fact it's a spankylicious tool.  It's ugly, it sounds funny, but when you glide smoothly into position, and crash the ball like an exocet through the covers, you know it's a good 'un.

Mind you - I am a proper batsman now.
